Truck Logistics Merchant

SUMMARY:   

The Logistics Merchant will work with the Grain and Agronomy Divisions coordinating the best efficiencies and economic advantages along with appropriate capacity for Sunrise Cooperative. They will have the responsibility of managing company owned trucks as well as third party freight carriers. These duties must be achieved while upholding Sunrise’s mission, goals, and values to deliver reliable service for Sunrise Cooperative.

Requirements

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work side-by-side with grain merchandising and crop nutrients product manager to coordinate and meet all logistical needs.
• Must have great communication and listening skills.
• Willingness and ability to change with market needs.
• Maintain freight rates for all bulk moves across the company.
• Coordinate moves to/from the farm.
• Coordinate moves in/out of Sunrise Locations while working with location managers.
• Know and understand the Ohio heavy haul permit system.
• Know how to identify and leverage backhaul opportunities.
• Maintain relationships with third-party freight carriers/brokers and understand how their business works.
• Maintain relationships directly with trucking companies and leveraging their active lanes.
• Flexibility and willingness to change are key to the success of this position.
• Submit reports in an accurate and timely manner as needed.
• Maintain all forms of compliance with all parties needed to maintain a freight supply that meets the needs of Sunrise      Cooperative.
• Promote and uphold Sunrise’s safety culture, in addition to governmental regulations. 
• Accept responsibility for personal development in professional and communication skills, and technical training.
• Meet with manager semi-annually to discuss and evaluate job expectations and responsibilities.
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

· Minimum of three years of experience in logistics coordination role.

· Basic computer skills

· Extended hours during peak seasons are required.
