Truss Design Technician

Are you an experienced Truss Designer or detail-oriented drafter with a passion for structural design? We are seeking a skilled Floor and Roof Truss Designer to join our dynamic team. This is a full-time, office-based position where you'll use Mitek software to design wood trusses for residential, commercial, and agricultural construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create accurate, cost-effective floor and roof truss designs using Mitek Software.
• Interpret architectural and structural plans to develop optimized layouts.
• Ensure designs meet building codes (TPI), engineering standards, and plant production capabilities.
• Communicate with architects, engineers, contractors, sales, and manufacturing teams.
• Maintain detailed records and job documentation.
• Solve design issues proactively through plan reviews and collaboration.
• Provide customer support, including occasional job site visits.
• Assist in training and mentoring new truss designers.
• Make follow-up calls to clients for quote status and customer service feedback.

Required Qualifications:

• Blueprint reading proficiency is a must.
• 2-year technical degree or equivalent construction/design experience preferred.
• 2+ years of experience with Mitek or other structural design software preferred.
• Working knowledge of CAD/drafting, engineering concepts, and material usage.
• Strong math skills, especially in load calculations and pricing estimates.
• Understanding of residential and commercial construction practices.
• Familiarity with Truss Plate Institute (TPI) standards and local building codes.
• Excellent communication skills,  written and verbal.
• Reliable transportation for occasional site visits.
