GovFirst is seeking to hire multiple Tunnels/Movable Bridge Electrical Engineer & Inspectors to support the design, construction, and maintenance of facility electrical systems and movable bridges in Virginia locations including Bristol, Culpeper, Fredericksburg, Hampton Roads, Lynchburg, Northern Virginia, Richmond, Salem, and Staunton within the Transportation Operations Division. This role will oversee engineering projects, supervise design technicians and trades craftsmen, and ensure safety and compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide engineering oversight for electrical systems related to movable bridges and facility electrical systems, ensuring compliance with safety and design standards.
Supervise design technicians and trades craftsmen during design, construction, and maintenance activities.
Collaborate effectively with various internal and external stakeholders including project managers, contractors, and technical teams.
Train and mentor craftsmen and technicians to ensure adherence to best practices and industry standards.
Inspect electrical systems and equipment to ensure proper installation, operation, and maintenance.
Perform field inspections, including climbing ladders, walking long distances, entering confined spaces, and working in physically demanding environments.
Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and according to technical specifications.
Prepare and review documentation including designs, reports, and maintenance logs.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university is required.
A minimum of eight (8) years of professional engineering experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience relevant to facility electrical systems or movable bridges.
Considerable experience supervising design teams and trades craftsmen in design, construction, and maintenance projects.
Ability to communicate effectively with personnel at various organizational levels and teach/train craftsmen.
Physical ability to climb ladders, walk long distances, enter confined spaces, and wear protective equipment such as a respirator.
Journey Electrician’s license is desirable but not required.
