Turf Manager

The Turf Manager will oversee daily turf mowing operations in Columbus, including managing the Turf applications team, and ensuring quality and high standards within a safe environment.

Deliver outstanding customer service, as defined by the customer and account managers regarding chemical applications. Responsible for the application of pesticides within commercial exterior sites. Responsibilities will include snow removal services in the winter season.

Candidate must have a minimum of a 3b certification and a 3a would be desired, with a minimum of 3 years of experience, including 2 years of leadership.

• Plan and apply herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers according to turf needs, and Engledow and environmental regulations and quality standards.
• Coordinate necessary human resources to accomplish stated purpose.
• Assist team in scheduling and delivering chemical/pesticide services according to Engledow quality standards.
• Provide feedback, coaching, and support to ensure high standards are met.
• Answer crew questions, monitor quality, and ensure safety protocols are followed.
• Design efficient mowing routes to maximize crew productivity and minimize fuel/time. Adjust schedules based on turf growth rates, weather, and field use. Provide mentoring and training support as needed for the team.
• Strive for efficient utilization of resources, monitor inventory, and order chemicals and application materials in advance of need.
• Oversee daily inspections, cleaning, and safe operation of mowers, sprayers, and utility vehicles. Track and perform oil changes, filter replacements, and blade sharpening on a routine basis.
• Maintain positive customer relationships by providing daily updates, flag issues, and align on customer expectations.
• Keep current with new chemical regulations and OSHA chemical standards. Follow all laws, regulations and certification requirements. Educate turf teams on equipment use, safety, and best care practices.
• Good knowledge and understanding of BOSS and utilizing it efficiently daily, including assisting teams with training in BOSS.
• Document mowing logs, chemical applications, maintenance schedules, and crew hours in BOSS.
• Provide input and direction for departmental growth, improvements, and development through participation in team and planning meetings.
• Provide assigned winter services with the instruction of the Snow Captain and/or Winter Services Manager.
