Department Summary\: This Tutoring Center position is housed within the Division of Enrollment Management, within the unit of Student Success and Retention (SS&R). The Tutoring Center (TC) provides services that facilitate TCNJ students' learning and persistence as they meet academic challenges throughout their academic careers. Trained in principles and practices of International College Reading and Learning Association certification, peer tutors assist students to master course content and develop learning skills, including problem-solving, analytical reading, writing researched arguments, oral presentation techniques, test-taking strategies, and time management.
Position Overview\: This position provides management of administrative duties in service to Tutoring Center programs and initiatives, collaborating with professional staff to fulfill TC short- and long-term objectives. They manage multiple complicated processes in the planning, facilitation, and assessment of a variety of tutoring support services for students and faculty of courses in the School of Science, Business, Engineering, and Nursing & Health Sciences (NHS). They hire, train, and directly supervise those tutors, supporting the Director in making data-driven hiring, training, and programming decisions. They directly supervise 2-5 non-professional staff members (Graduate Assistants and a PT student-worker Communications Assistant). This position represents the TC at various events on campus and collaboratively leads outreach initiatives. They support the Director in the management of programming in partnership with the Writing Program and assist them with the creation and/or management of special projects.
