Job Description - ULTRASOUND TECH MULTI-HOSP

Works under their scope of practice and in accordance with registry in the operation of equipment. Coordinates patient flow and the activities of the Ultrasound Department. Supervises FTEs: No Number of FTEs Supervised: N/A Exercises full management authority including performance reviews, discipline, termination and personnel hiring No Annual Revenue in Dollars: N/A Annual Expense in Dollars: N/A Population Served Age of Population Served - Choose all that apply ☐ Infant (birth - less than 1 year) ☐ Pediatric/Adolescent (1 - less than 18 years) ☐ Adult (18 - 64 years) ☐ Geriatric (65 years & older) ☒ All Age Groups Preferred experience: 2 years of experience in Ultrasound ▪Maintains compliance with organization's policies, as well as established practices, protocols, and procedures of the position, department, and applicable professional standards. ▪Complies with organizational and regulatory policies for handling confidential patient information. ▪Demonstrates excellent customer service through his/her attitude and actions, consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission, and Values of the organization. ▪Adheres to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and TJC standards and/or standards from other accrediting bodies. 1.Performs US procedures of diagnostic quality as ordered by the referring physician and/or radiologist on patients of all ages according to established protocols and evaluates Ultrasound studies for technical image quality. 2.Obtains clinical history and data for correlation with the US procedure. 3.Performs daily and weekly QC as required. 4.Practices sterile technique as required. 5.Assists Radiologist in special procedures and in performing medical treatment during emergency situations. 6.Coordinates patient care with other areas in order to optimize patient time and satisfaction 7.Assesses learning needs and educates patients/families regarding procedures based on individual needs. Employees may be required to perform any other job-related instructions as requested by their supervisor, subject to reasonable accommodations. ▪Type of degree: Allied Health ▪Area of study or major: Ultrasonography ▪Preferred educational qualifications: Associate degree or graduate of an accredited program Minimum Level of Experience Required: No prior job-related work experience ▪Proficient in performing diagnostic procedures and obtaining diagnostic images for physician interpretation ▪Proficient in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) ▪Proficient in Radiology Information System (RIS) and Image Storage ▪Advanced US applications 4 - Consistently (76% - 100%) Stooping 3 - Frequently (41% - 75%) Lifting >10 pounds 4 - Consistently (76% - 100%) Reading 4 - Consistently (76% - 100%) Kneeling 1 - Rarely (0% - 10%) Normal hearing both ears 3 - Frequently (41% - 75%) Thinking 4 - Consistently (76% - 100%) Organizational Standards ▪Demonstrates traits and behaviors including, but not limited to, Focusing on Patients/Customers, Walking the Talk, Being a Partner, Adding Skills/Abilities, Working Independently for all staff and Managing in a Changing Environment, Engaging the Workforce, and Managing & Improving Individual Performance for Management Staff. ▪Performs in such a way to honor our values of Respect, Integrity, Compassion, and Excellence. ▪Provides a positive and professional representation of the organization. ▪Promotes a culture of safety for patients and employees through proper identification, reporting, documentation, and prevention.▪ Maintains hospital standards for a clean and quiet patient environment to maintain a positive patient care experience. ▪Maintains competency and knowledge of current standards of practice, trends, and developments in related scope of job role or practice. ▪Adheres to infection prevention policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations. -Credentialed in Ultrasound technology by one of the following (required): -American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) -Sonographer by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Vascular Credentialed by one of the following (required): - ARDMS- Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or CCI (RVS), Cardiovascular Credentialing International, Registered Vascular Specialist -Minimum of one additional registry in practiced specialties are required as approved by ARDMS: Abdomen, OB/GYN, muscular skeletal, Neurosonology, Breast -CPR Certification required within 30 days of hire
