ULTRASOUND TECH MULTI-HOSP/MVH/FT

Works under their scope of practice and in accordance with registry in the operation of equipment. Coordinates patient flow and the activities of the Ultrasound Department. 1. Performs US procedures of diagnostic quality as ordered by the referring physician and/or radiologist on patients of all ages according to established protocols and evaluates Ultrasound studies for technical image quality. 2. Obtains clinical history and data for correlation with the US procedure. 3. Performs daily and weekly QC as required. 4. Practices sterile technique as required. 5. Assists Radiologist in special procedures and in performing medical treatment during emergency situations. 6. Coordinates patient care with other areas in order to optimize patient time and satisfaction 7. Assesses learning needs and educates patients/families regarding procedures based on individual needs. § Type of degree: Allied Health § Area of study or major: Ultrasonography § Preferred educational qualifications: Associate degree or graduate of an accredited program Minimum Level of Experience Required: No prior job-related work experience Preferred experience: 2 years of experience in Ultrasound § Proficient in performing diagnostic procedures and obtaining diagnostic images for physician interpretation § Proficient in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) § Proficient in Radiology Information System (RIS) and Image Storage § Advanced US applications Credentialed in Ultrasound technology by one of the following (required): o American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) o Sonographer by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Vascular Credentialed by one of the following (required): o ARDMS- Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) o CCI (RVS), Cardiovascular Credentialing International, Registered Vascular Specialist Minimum of one additional registry in practiced specialties are required as approved by ARDMS: Abdomen, OB/GYN, muscular skeletal, Neurosonology, Breast CPR Certification required within 30 days of hire
