Position and Training:

Tops and Trends is seeking both experienced and apprentice applicants to learn the skills needed to become a proficient upholsterer trimmer in our automotive, marine and commercial furniture operation. We are looking for someone who is energetic, reliable, prideful in their work and is willing to learn and grow with the business. Our established training program teaches qualified applicants the skills needed to work with various components such as interiors, convertible tops, carpets and headliners and the corresponding materials including fabric, vinyl and leather. We teach how to safely use multiple hand and power tools as well as sewing machine operation. 

For those unsure about a career in upholstery we offer multi-day orientation sessions to qualified applicants which provide an opportunity to mentor alongside highly skilled technicians to learn hands-on what it takes to produce quality work efficiently.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Interior disassembly and reassembly


• Installing prefabricated interior leather and vinyl covers

• Fabricate Interiors by patterning, cutting and sewing


• Sewing machine operation 


• Maintaining a safe work area


• Quality control and final inspections

Skills:

• Upholstery


• Convertible

• Desire to learn new skills in other departments such as vehicle electronics, ADAS stereo, window tint, sunroofs, truck accessories and general repair


• Interact and relate effectively with those contacted in the course of work including fellow workers, customers and the general public


• Vehicle transportation

Compensation and Team Benefits:

Our competitive compensation plan rewards technicians that produce quality work in an efficient manner. Upholstery apprentices begin at $15 hour and those with experience earn more and are eligible for book time and pay grade premiums. In addition, we offer a complete package of benefits including:
