Under the supervision of the Director of Early Childhood Services, the employee will plan, implement, and assess a language-rich, development appropriate program for three- and four-year-olds which follows the Rochester City School District Universal Pre-k curriculum, NY state Standards and the guidelines of Ibero Childhood Services.

Reports to the Director of Early Childhood Services
Establishes and maintains good working relationships with Ibero staff, staff from related agencies, the Rochester City School District and parents
Performs initial assessment of children to determine child’s progress and update educational programs accordingly using the COR
Communicates with parents periodically to inform them about children’s progress
Organizes and maintains area to ensure that the environment is pleasant, safe and clean
Prepares environment to enhance children’s cognitive, social, emotional and physical development
Ensures that classroom meets ECERS criteria
Follows Ibero’s policies and procedures, NYS regulations, the Rochester City School District, Universal Pre-K curriculum and regulations
Maintain daily attendance records, weekly lesson plans and other required documents as assigned
Communicates to the Director of Early Childhood Services concerns regarding absenteeism, suspicion of child abuse and neglect and/or maltreatment, developmental delays, or inappropriate behavior among the children
Informs parents and Health and Disability Advocate of any health and/or disability concerns regarding children
Prepares reports as requested
Attends parent-teacher conferences
Make home visits when necessary
Plans and implements lesson that address group and individual children’s needs
Provides leadership to the Pre-K team
Assigns tasks to Classroom Support Aide, and completes work in a timely manner
Attends team meetings, Rochester City School District training’s parent meetings, scheduled staff meetings, trainings and center events as assigned
Keeps knowledge of children and families confidential
Continues to develop professionally
Performs all other duties as assigned by the Director of Early Childhood Services
Under the general direction of the Director of Early Childhood Services, exercises considerable initiative in making decisions regarding activities in the classroom. The employee supervises and manages the Pre-K/Preschool classroom and Teacher Assistant.
Requirements
Child Development Associate certification (CDA), Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred.
New York State Teacher Certification.
Demonstrated knowledge of child development, early childhood education and appropriate discipline methods.
At least 1 year experience working with preschoolers
Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
Must have clearance through the NYS Central Registry. A combination of training and experience other than the specified, if judged to be adequate for the job, may be considered.
Ability to perform all physical duties required by the supervision of the young child such as walking, running, jumping, skipping, hopping, etc.)
Ability to speak positively and respectfully to children
Proficient in spoken and written English
Good organization skills
Must obtain a physical exam w/TB test, fingerprinting, and State Clearance. A combination of education and work experience other that the above may be approved by the President and CEO.
Physical Demands:
The position does require occasional standing, squatting, lifting of up to approximately 40 lbs. and frequent standing.
