We are looking for Pre-Kindergarten Teachers for our Chappaqua Central School District classroom for the 2025-2026 school year.

Our Pre-K program offers four-year-old's an exciting opportunity to access top-notch pre-kindergarten education, setting them up for future school success. We seek someone creative, culturally aware, and skilled at solving problems to join our team. Our program emphasizes child-centered activities, building strong foundational skills in early literacy and numeracy, fostering social interactions, and preparing children for Kindergarten. If you have experience with early literacy, using multi-disciplinary approaches, and crafting strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners, we would love to hear from you!

PAY: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour (Based on qualifications and experience)

STATUS: Part-time, non-exempt

SCHEDULE: 10 months (aligned to district calendar)

HOURS: Monday-Friday, 8:30 am - 2:15 pm

Responsibilities will always include, but are not limited to:

  • Planned and implemented a developmentally appropriate program for PreK students that met Chappaqua Central School District requirements.
  • Plan, prepare, and teach well-developed culturally responsive lessons.
  • Assess, track, and provide relevant and timely feedback on students' achievement and developmental needs.
  • Use age-appropriate and positive guidance strategies to teach, encourage, and redirect inappropriate classroom behavior.
  • Build relationships with staff and families through positive and professional communication, create a welcoming environment, respect diversity, and encourage parent participation in the program.
  • Work collaboratively with teacher assistants.
  • Design the room layout for success using ECERS (Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale)
  • Developing activities that promote literacy and math concepts – following the Creative Curriculum PreK
  • Participating in ongoing in-service and education development opportunities, and participating in the continuing development and evaluation of the program’s goals and objectives

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current NYS teaching certificate valid for service in the early childhood grades.
  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred).
  • Experience teaching preschool-age children.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

To be qualified as a Pre-K teacher, a person must possess either:

  • (a) New York State Certification Birth-Grade 2 OR
  • (b) New York State Certification N-6 OR
  • (c) New York State Certification P, K, 1-6 OR
  • (d) Bachelor’s Degree & 5-Year Plan

  • Warm, friendly, caring, upbeat personality. Exceptional people skills in dealing with young children, parents, and staff. Professional, reliable, and prompt.
  • Must have the stamina and physical flexibility (walking, sitting, standing, bending, kneeling, pulling, running, reaching, climbing, lifting, and carrying up to 50 lbs.) without assistance to participate in children’s activities.
