Job Description - USDA Sales Director

The USDA Sales Director will develop and implement marketing plan/selling strategies for the USDA Lending Program both within and outside of the traditional retail footprint. Attract and retain top national talent in USDA BDO Lending. Focus on geography outside of Huntington’s retail footprint states with expansion nationwide. Sales goals to exceed $100MM. Key focus on primary bank opportunities.
Define roles and responsibilities for USDA Sales Staff including Business Development Officers and Inside Sales team, and their support staff. Responsible for USDA BDO segment’s balance sheet growth, expenses, operating income, and credit quality objectives. Responsible for managing sales leadership team and operational support leaders.
Provide feedback on USDA Business Banking products and services and assist in the development of products to meet the needs of the USDA Business Banking Segment. Communicate direction and group strategy to meet goals. Recommend product and service solutions to team/customers. Provide oversight in local markets approvals, credit overrides and pricing exceptions. Develop strong relationships with essential partners, including Centers of Influence, National Partnerships, Franchise Owners, Commercial and Treasury Management leadership amongst others. Recommend product and service solutions to team/customers. Assist in the strategy and management of the USDA segment, while providing leadership at the company level to successfully execute Business Banking strategies and goals. Partner closely with SBA Sales Leadership to coordinate balanced go to market plan and goals.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Sales Leadership: Direct management of sales colleagues and eventually a leadership team, BDO coaching, COI engagement, National Partnership creation/maintenance, creation of strategies to grow the business. Participating in credit preview calls, managing the pipeline. Focus on closing pipeline to achieve strenuous business segment production goals.
Colleague Management: Will manage a team of lenders and/or lending leaders who will have responsibilities of coaching their sales producers, sales support staff, and administrative functions. Sales goals to be established and include customer prospecting, application creation, shepherding through underwriting, due diligence, and closing.
P&L Management, Segment Finance, Incentives, Credit Metrics: Responsible for goals in production and expense, as well as client selection and relationship management that lead to credit metrics monitored in ERMS, for the USDA segment. Additionally, will have to interact with finance and report back on progress to goals, pipeline management, and blue sky reporting. Responsible for incentive budgeting, plan management, and colleague code of conduct quality reviews including our clawback policy.
USDA Segment Strategy: Will be integral to the initial and ongoing USDA National Expansion Strategy, as we look to compliment the #1 SBA Lender program. This will require analysis of competitors in each marketplace for credit strategy, pricing models, colleague compensation, and interaction with local COIs as we expand.
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum of 10 Years of USDA or SBA Sales Experience
