Job Title: Utility and Grounds Technician
Department: Maintenance/Grounds
Reports To: Maintenance and Grounds Managers
Hours: 40 hours a week
Job Function: The Utility and Grounds Technician ensures the smooth operation and reliability of Goodstone Inn's utility systems through routine inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, preventative maintenance, and grounds upkeep.
Job Summary: The Utility and Grounds Technician is vital in ensuring the smooth operation and reliability of utility systems within Goodstone Inn. This position is essential for maintaining infrastructure, equipment, and services that support daily business functions. By effectively managing maintenance tasks and addressing any issues, the Utility and Grounds Technician helps minimize downtime and enhance overall efficiency, directly contributing to the organization’s goals and objectives.
Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on equipment, including electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair utility systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Conduct preventative maintenance to avoid costly repairs and downtime.
- Address maintenance requests quickly to minimize guest inconvenience.
- Operate construction equipment and tools for repair and maintenance tasks.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs.
- Collaborate with other team members and provide support as needed.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests promptly and efficiently.
- Participate in on-call and call-back work as required.
Grounds Responsibilities:
- Maintain the landscaping and grounds, including mowing, trimming, and planting.
- Ensure the cleanliness and appearance of outdoor areas, including pathways, gardens, and recreational spaces.
- Perform seasonal tasks such as snow removal, leaf collection, and irrigation system maintenance.
- Inspect and repair outdoor lighting and signage.
- Assist with the setup and maintenance of outdoor events and activities.
- Monitor and manage pest control measures to ensure a safe and pleasant environment.
- Maintain water features, ponds, and hiking trails to ensure guest safety and enjoyment.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven experience in utility maintenance, preferably in a hospitality setting.
- Strong knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- Ability to operate construction equipment and tools safely and effectively.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills and customer service orientation.
- Physical ability to perform maintenance tasks, including lifting and working in various environments.
Working Conditions:
- Exposure to both indoor and outdoor environments, including extreme weather conditions.
- Exposure to hazards such as loud noises, electrical currents, chemicals, and dust is possible.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
