Apply Today! \n\nWhere You Will Work\n\nLocated approximately 50 miles northeast of Safford, Arizona on U.S. Highway 191, Morenci operations (an open-pit copper mining complex) has been in continuous operation since 1939. The operation consists of two concentrators, crushed-ore leach pad and stacking system, a low-grade run-of-mine (ROM) leaching system; four SX plants; and three EW tank houses that produce copper cathode. \n\nMorenci is a unique company town where our employees and their families can reconnect with nature through hiking, fishing, camping, hunting and numerous parks. Visit the Morenci town website to learn more. \n\n## Description\n\nSkilled mechanic who under supervision safely performs mechanical and electrical repairs to machinery, equipment and buildings in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment. These duties include welding, cutting, pipefitting and light machining. Will apply knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps and electrical maintenance.\n\n \n\n * Comprehend and execute assigned duties quickly and accurately\n\n * Operate various equipment (stationary and mobile)\n\n * Perform manual lifting of various weights, shapes and sizes\n\n * Execute Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) procedures\n\n * Read machine prints or schematics\n\n * Measure and work to detail\n\n * Operate transportation equipment (forklifts, cranes, etc.); will be trained to safely operate a forklift\n\n * Assist in training new employees\n\n * Perform other duties as assigned\n\n\n\n\n## Qualifications\n\nMinimum Qualifications\n\n \n\n * One (1) year of experience in relevant trade or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance\n\n * Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required aptitude. The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills while also passing a written assessment where required. This exam is based on skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge; as well as safety.\n\n\n\n\n \n\nPreferred\n\n \n\n * High School diploma or GED\n\n\n\n \n\nCriteria/Conditions\n\n \n\n * Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English\n * Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards\n * Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment\n * Personal protective equipment is required on a regular basis, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toed boots, protective clothing, gloves and other protective equipment\n * Employee will be required to work in environments which may include exposure to extreme temperatures and humidity\n * While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, and work on elevated platforms\n * Occasionally may be required to lift up to fifty (50) pounds during the course of the work day\n * Will be required to work rotating shifts in a 24/7/365 operation\n * Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as per applicable State Laws\n\n\n\nWhat We Offer You \n\nThe estimated pay range for this role is currently $23.00 - $31.00/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors.
