GENERAL FUNCTION

The Associate Chemist supports activities on the manufacturing of chemical of intermediates / dye production and finished chemical products for our Oakley & Ray-Ban eye wear and sunglasses portfolios.



Partnering with our Research & Development leadership team, the Associate Chemist executes all aspects of the qualification of intermediate chemicals and dyes to meet production schedules

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Executes all aspects of the synthesis, manufacture, and qualification of intermediate chemicals and dyes to meet production schedules
  
• Evaluates and improves efficiency and safety of processes.
  
• Interacts openly with members of the chemistry team.
  
• Writes weekly reports that detail progress made on each project, with results, comments, and time spent on each project
  
• Maintains notebooks on all procedures with annotations and indices
  
• Maintains all equipment to ensure proper working order
  
• Maintains clean, orderly, regulatory-compliant, and safe operating conditions
  

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
  
• 12+ months’ work experience a plus (including internships)
  
• Excellent communication, reporting & analytical skills
  
• Physical ability to move and handle drum quantities of chemicals
  

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Master’s Degree
  
• Expertise in Office applications, in particular Excel, Access, VBA
  
• Mathematics or beyond minimum degree requirements
