Job Summary:
The Valuations Manager is responsible for overseeing complex valuation reviews and escalations across the RTL portfolio, ensuring accurate, consistent, and timely valuation decisions. This role partners closely with Credit, Asset Management, Trading, and Investment teams to support asset pricing, deal execution, portfolio performance, and risk management.
The ideal candidate brings strong real estate valuation expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to navigate high-impact decisions in a fast-paced environment. This position also drives process improvements, promotes operational efficiency, and helps establish scalable valuation practices that support business growth and decision quality.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Leadership and Oversight:
Provide expert guidance and mentorship to Valuation Analysts to enhance their skill sets and ensure high-quality work output.
Lead team meetings and training sessions to promote best practices and continuous improvement within the department.
Collaborate with the Director to implement department initiatives, monitor key performance indicators, and execute on strategic goals.
People Management:
Manage the daily workflow and performance of the Valuation Analyst team, including workload balancing, quality control, and timely issue resolution.
Conduct performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and support career development plans for team members.
Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and training of new analysts as needed.
Promote a culture of accountability, integrity, and continuous improvement within the team.
Appraisal Review Analysis:
Conduct comprehensive analyses of third-party appraisal reports, ensuring they meet industry standards and accurately reflect property values.
Address discrepancies in appraisal reports by coordinating with external appraisers to ensure clarity and compliance.
Desktop Valuation:
Perform and oversee desktop valuations using company proprietary systems and additional data sites to develop accurate value opinions on various property types, including single-family residences, condominiums, and multi-family units.
Review and analyze market data trends, property tax records, and other relevant data to support valuation accuracy.
Value Reconciliation:
Perform and oversee desktop valuations using company proprietary systems and additional data sites to develop accurate value opinions on various property types, including single-family residences, condominiums, and multi-family units.
Review and analyze market data trends, property tax records, and other relevant data to support valuation accuracy.
Escalate high-risk or complex valuation scenarios for further review or adjustment.
Communication and Collaboration:
Perform and oversee desktop valuations using company proprietary systems and additional data sites to develop accurate value opinions on various property types, including single-family residences, condominiums, and multi-family units.
Review and analyze market data trends, property tax records, and other relevant data to support valuation accuracy.
Act as a key liaison between the Valuations team and cross-functional partners including Credit, Underwriting, Risk, and Servicing.
Deliver timely updates, summaries, and valuation insights to support loan decisions and strategic planning.
Support compliance and audit requests with documentation and subject matter expertise as needed.
Contribute to ad hoc projects, policy updates, and operational initiatives.
Remain adaptable to evolving business needs in a fast-paced lending environment.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of real estate valuations
College Degree Preferred or relevant appraisal/valuation experience
Proven leadership and team management skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to utilize proprietary valuation systems
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Strong communication skills, capable of interacting with professionalism and integrity with all levels of team members and management
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills; able to prioritize multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in real estate, Finance, Economics, or a related field preferred
3-5 years of experience in appraisal or a related field, with significant emphasis on desk-based analysis and team leadership
Work Environment:
This is a hybrid position which requires in office reporting to Anchor’s main headquarters in Thousand Oaks, CA for a minimum 3 days/week, ability to work remotely two days/week.
Compensation:
The base pay for this position is $120,000 - $130,000 a year, plus annual discretionary bonus based on performance of the individual and company.
