Description

The San Francisco SPCA was founded on the principle that a small group of people, working together and working strategically, could make a huge impact on the lives of animals. Over a century and a half, that has proven to be true. We've set out to achieve a goal of impacting 5 million lives in 10 years with what we call Vision 2030. We are not only impacting lives in San Francisco, but also expanding our reach through the state of California. To achieve this goal, access to basic veterinary care will be imperative.
Are you that person in your neighborhood that everyone comes to with their animal questions? Are you well connected in your community? We are actively seeking a Community Ambassador for Tulare County, who is ingrained in their community and can utilize their connections to help identify, address, and solve local challenges relating to limited access to veterinary care. Serving as a valuable resource and service provider, the Community Ambassador will play a crucial role in enhancing pet health and offering support within their community.
The Community Ambassador will help expand our impact by fostering relationships, establishing trust, conducting community outreach, and providing basic preventative health services for pets.
Your contributions would include:

Conducting community outreach (i.e. surveys, canvassing) to identify areas and families in greatest need of resources.
Gathering data, building reports and presenting recommendations to SF SPCA leadership.
Administering vaccines and OTC flea/tick treatment to community owned animals. (Previous clinical experience not required).
Collaborating with volunteers in various community outreach activities (i.e. vaccine clinics).
Facilitating relationships with community members and shelter representatives.
Educating community members on the benefits of spay/neuter services and facilitating these appointments.

Things that would make an ideal candidate stand out:
Thorough understanding of local community
Outstanding leadership and interpersonal skills
Ability to communicate skillfully and effectively with diverse communities and before groups of people
Solid computer skills and database experience
Knowledgeable of animal welfare issues
Bilingual Spanish-speaker preferred

Job requirements:
Available to work weekends and a non-traditional work schedule
Be an active and engaged Central Valley citizen committed to advocating for both people and animals
Willing to learn skills such as preparing and administering vaccinations and safe animal handling techniques
Ability to work in ambiguity and independently
Experience in collecting, managing and reporting clean data

As an employee of the SF SPCA, you will receive:
Competitive compensation at $25-$28/hr (rate depends on depth and breadth of experience)
Medical Dental & Vision Benefits
Health Savings Account/Health Care Flexible Spending Account
401k Retirement Savings Plan
