Veterinary Receptionist/Assistant

Dogwood Trails Animal Hospital is hiring a full-time Veterinary Receptionist/Assistant to provide skilled care to our patients and exceptional service to our clients. Our ideal candidate has experience in animal care, client communication, and veterinary procedures, and has a passion for improving the lives of pets and their owners.

Salary: $16-$18 per hour

Schedule: Full Time 35+ hrs. weekly

Mon 8 am - 7 pm;

Tue, Wed & Thurs 8 am - 6 pm;

Alternating Saturdays 8 am - 3 pm 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Answer client calls for appointments and triage client concerns as well as other client requests. Make outbound calls for appointment reminders and follow-ups


• Greet clients, escort them and their pets into exam rooms, ensure smooth transitions to the front desk, and promote the practice’s products, programs, and services


• Ensure accurate service and product sales accounting, handling payments, process credit/debit cards, and schedule future appointments to maximize efficiency and daily flow


• Understand common vaccination protocols, basic lab tests, common diseases, veterinary terminology, and pet behavior


• Assist veterinarians and vet techs during examinations, treatments, and surgeries


• Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately


• Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces


• Perform basic laboratory tests, such as collecting blood, urine, and stool samples


• Administer medications and vaccinations under the supervision of a veterinarian


• Maintain accurate medical records


• Communicate with pet owners about their pets’ care, treatment plans, and follow-up visits


• Clean and maintain the clinic, including stocking supplies and ensuring a safe and sanitary environment

Qualifications:

• Previous experience as a veterinary receptionist or veterinary assistant


• Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately


• Ability to lift 50 lbs


• Must be detailed oriented with ability to think clearly and multitask in a fast-paced environment


• Have strong client education and communication skills


• Must have a can-do attitude and be a team player


• Ability to maintain a calm, professional and positive demeanor


• Dependability, punctuality and flexibility are a must

Dogwood Trails is a brand-new state-of-the-art small animal hospital located in Bentonville, Arkansas. Open since October 2024, the hospital offers a variety of services to provide the best comprehensive care to our patients through all stages of life including preventative care, soft tissue surgeries, dentals, in-hour diagnostics, ultrasound, and digital full body and dental radiographs.
