Job Description - Veterinary Technian Assistant - Broadway Animal Hospital of Riverdale - Bronx, NY


Are you an experienced Veterinary Assistant or Unlicensed Veterinary Technician Assistant looking for an amazing team environment? Look no further than Broadway Animal Hospital at Riverdale! 


At Broadway Animal Hospital of Riverdale, we are passionate about delivering exceptional patient care while creating a supportive, collaborative, and positive environment for our team. We are currently seeking a confident and experienced Veterinary Assistant or Unlicensed Veterinary Technician Assistant to join our hospital Full-Time.


We are specifically looking for someone with 3–4+ years of hands-on experience working in a veterinary hospital setting as a Veterinary Assistant or Unlicensed Veterinary Technician who is comfortable supporting a GP environment and providing high-quality patient care.

Located in the heart of Kingsbridge/Riverdale in the Bronx, our hospital is surrounded by incredible culture, restaurants, parks, and easy transportation access.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Assist veterinary technicians and veterinarians with various tasks, including animal restraint, medication administration, and sample collection.

  • Maintain a clean and organized clinic/hospital environment by disinfecting surfaces, sanitizing equipment, and cleaning kennels and cages.

  • Prepare examination rooms for appointments, ensuring they are well-stocked and organized.

  • Greet and assist clients, helping them feel welcome and comfortable during their visit.

  • Escort clients and their pets to exam rooms and obtain preliminary information, such as medical history and reason for the visit.

  • Provide support during medical procedures, including setting up equipment, holding animals, and monitoring their well-being.

  • Prepare and label laboratory samples accurately, following proper protocols.

  • Assist with radiography (X-rays) by positioning animals and operating equipment under the direction of the veterinary team.

  • Help educate clients on topics such as medication administration, preventive care, and post-operative instructions.

  • Keep accurate and detailed records of patient care, treatments, and interactions.

  • Assist with inventory management, restocking supplies, and maintaining an organized storage area.

  • Participate in maintaining a positive and collaborative team atmosphere.


Skills & Requirements:




  • Minimum 3–4 years of hands-on experience working in a veterinary hospital as a Veterinary Assistant or Unlicensed Veterinary Technician required

  • Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, patient care, and hospital workflow

  • Comfortable with animal restraint, venipuncture, IV catheter support, patient monitoring, laboratory diagnostics, and treatment assistance

  • Ability to multitask and remain calm in a busy, fast-paced environment

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Experience with veterinary software and medical documentation preferred

  • Physical ability to lift, carry, and restrain animals of varying sizes
