Job Description - Veterinary Technician

Position Summary


We are seeking an experienced, motivated Veterinary Technician to join our team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys surgery, anesthesia, teamwork, and a high-volume environment where efficiency and patient safety go hand in hand.


The Veterinary Technician plays a vital role in patient care, anesthesia monitoring, surgical preparation, recovery, and daily clinic operations. Candidates must be dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to providing excellent care for every patient.


Responsibilities



  • Prepare patients for surgery, including pre-operative assessments and treatments.

  • Place IV catheters and administer medications as directed by the veterinarian.

  • Induce, monitor, and recover patients under anesthesia.

  • Monitor patient vital signs and maintain accurate anesthesia records.

  • Assist veterinarians during surgical procedures.

  • Administer vaccines and perform treatments as assigned.

  • Monitor post-operative recovery and identify patient concerns.

  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation.

  • Clean, disinfect, and maintain surgical and treatment areas.

  • Follow all clinic protocols and safety standards.

  • Assist with inventory, supply management, and equipment maintenance.

  • Provide compassionate care to all patients.


Qualifications



  • Veterinary Technician experience required.

  • Surgical and anesthesia experience preferred.

  • High-volume spay/neuter or shelter medicine experience is a plus.

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and maintain attention to detail.

  • Passion for animal welfare and community service.


Physical Requirements



  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and move throughout the workday.

  • Ability to safely handle and restrain dogs and cats of varying sizes.
