About Us:
Montana Pet Dentistry and Oral Surgery is a specialty veterinary practice dedicated to advanced dentistry and oral surgery for pets. We are seeking a Veterinary Tech Assistant/Receptionist to support both the front desk and patient care areas. This position is ideal for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and eager to work in a client communication focused, specialty environment.
What You’ll Do
Client Communication & Front Desk Duties
· Serve as the first point of contact for clients, providing a welcoming and professional experience.
· Schedule appointments, answer calls, and assist with client check-in and check-out.
· Maintain accurate client and pet records, including referral documents and medical history.
· Provide general client education about clinic procedures, post-treatment care, and services.
Veterinary Support & Patient Care Assistance (Under Veterinary Supervision)
· Assist veterinarian and technicians during patient exams and procedures under direct supervision.
· Fill prescriptions or call them into pharmacies only under veterinary authorization and supervision.
· Assist with patient handling, restraint, and comfort care before and after procedures.
· Prepare and maintain treatment areas, ensuring equipment and supplies are organized.
· Prepare treats and food for patients to support their care and recovery.
Office & Administrative Tasks
· Maintain clean and organized office and treatment areas.
· Process payments, manage invoices, and ensure accurate financial transactions.
· Follow opening and closing procedures for the hospital.
What You’ll Not Be Doing (Tasks That Require a Licensed Veterinary Technician or Veterinarian)
· Performing dental procedures (scaling, polishing, etc.)
· Administering anesthesia, injections, or controlled substances independently
· Assisting in surgery beyond preparation and general patient support
· Providing medical diagnoses, prescribing medications, or developing treatment plans
What We’re Looking For
· Previous veterinary experience or knowledge of veterinary terminology preferred.
· Strong customer service skills and ability to communicate professionally with clients and team members.
· Organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
· Experience with veterinary software is a plus.
