Type: Full-Time | Salaried Exempt


Department: Veterinary Technology 


Compensation: $70,935 – $88,670 per year



Position Summary


Shape the future of veterinary medicine in the East Valley! Pima Medical Institute is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Technician Clinical Director to lead the clinical education component of our Veterinary Technician Program at our East Valley campus in Mesa, AZ .


In this pivotal academic leadership role, you will bridge classroom theory with hands-on clinical practice . You will secure and maintain clinical affiliation partnerships, coordinate student rotations, evaluate clinical competencies, and mentor adult learners to ensure high student success and graduation outcomes .



Key Responsibilities


Clinical Affiliations & Site Management:




  • Partner Development: Secure new clinical rotation sites and negotiate contractual agreements . Ensure all clinical contracts remain current, accurate, and aligned with program accreditation needs .




  • Site Relations & Visits: Conduct site visits across clinical affiliates to evaluate student performance, review learning progress, and collaborate with site preceptors/instructors .




  • Student Placement: Coordinate student scheduling and site placements to ensure a comprehensive, effective clinical education experience .




Instruction & Academic Leadership:




  • Curriculum & Didactic Delivery: Coordinate both clinical and didactic education for the Veterinary Technician Program . Perform instructor duties in the classroom and lab as needed .




  • Competency Assessment: Develop clinical learning objectives, monitor student skill evaluations, and maintain accurate grade books in accordance with institutional policy .




  • Student Retention & Mentorship: Maintain an 80%+ student success rate by tracking progress, meeting with students to provide academic guidance, and implementing retention plans to minimize withdrawals .




Departmental Administration & Compliance:




  • Continuous Improvement: Revise clinical education plans and recommend curriculum enhancements to the Program Director .




  • Admissions & Compliance: Assist the Program Director with interviewing and screening student applicants . Enforce all safety guidelines, biohazard handling protocols, and professional standards .





Minimum Qualifications




  • Education: Associate degree from an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technician program recognized by the USDE or CHEA . (Baccalaureate degree preferred) .




  • Licensure/Credential: Active, current credential as a Certified/Registered Veterinary Technician (CVT/RVT) or Licensed Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) in good standing .




  • Field Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of occupational (practical) experience within the veterinary field .




  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic computer applications .




  • Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities .




Preferred Qualifications:




  • Leadership, administrative, or supervisory experience in a veterinary clinical or educational setting .
