About You
Lead Technician is under the direct guidance and supervision of the Practice Manager. This is an overview of the position and the job responsibilities listed do not encompass the entire position. This position will serve 2 locations – McKinney and Legacy.
Role Responsibilities:
- Tech Training – Onboarding, Training, supervising, and assisting the Assistants/Technicians in line with the Tech Trainer Outline and New Hire Process.
- End-of-Day Tasks - Oversee the completion of daily checklist and maintenance logs in treatment/surgery.
- Knowledge/Problem Solving - Exhibit technical knowledge of all equipment and maintenance. Must be able to trouble shoot equipment issues to get them operating appropriately in a timely manner.
- Scheduling – Maintains tech schedules and optimizes patient load to ensure productivity. Help arrange to cover shifts by seeking coverage by team or covering shifts yourself.
- Corrective/Performance Actions - Work with the Practice Manager concerning personnel matters, disciplinary actions and follow-through. The Lead Technician is not to perform any disciplinary actions but, may have seek to understand conversations. Help conduct performance evaluations, mediate interpersonal problems and address concerns from Assistants/Technicians.
- Rounds - Assist the Practice Manager and Medical Director in conducting daily rounds.
- Tech Encounters - Audit charts for completeness and accuracy of medical records. Assure compliance by team of medical records, logs and procedures. Ensure that encounters are being signed at the end of the day.
- Teamwork - Work well with all employees and ensure that your actions support the hospital, the doctors and the practice’s core values.
- Leadership – Attend Leadership meetings and work closely with the Practice Manager and Medical Director to address staff-related issues and hospital needs.
Experience & Skills Requirements:
- Ideally possess an active LVT/RVT or CVT
- Has a minimum of 2 years of clinical veterinary experience with direct patient care (intake, surgery, discharge and proficient technical skills)
- Has experience leadership and/or supervisory positions
- Possesses a positive work attitude
- Self-motivated
- Excellent communication and organization skills
- Superior technical skills
- Is committed to a stress-free environment for our patients
- Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment
