Vice President & Controller - Exciting Challenge

Client is a major Annuities carrier in Houston, TX, with a balance sheet tracking to $250B and backed by a large asset manager.

Responsibilities of the Vice President & Controller:

· Oversee and lead the financial reporting process

· Refine all aspects of the accounting function including monthly close, revenue, accounts payable, tax, treasury, technical accounting, financial reporting, SEC & regulatory reporting, US GAAP, statutory reporting, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and other financial-related functions

· Oversee staff of 20 – 30 team members

· Develop and maintain robust financial reporting policies and procedures in accordance with GAAP and statutory regulations

· Ensure company's financial statements are accurate, complete, timely and in compliance with both GAAP and Statutory requirements

· Safeguard the following deliverables: Quarterly and annual statutory reporting - Group, NAIC, state Department of Insurance, rating agencies, Statutory audits, and GAAP annual statement audits

· Monitor and guarantee timely identification and compliance with evolving accounting guidance and interpretations while actively communicating the impact of these changes leadership teams

· Collaborate with Actuarial on Loss, Loss adjustment expense estimates, and life reserves

Requirements:

· Degree in Accounting or Finance

· CPA. or active pursuit

· Big-4 industry work experience is preferred

· Skilled /experienced in Annuities, Reinsurance, and Investments.

· GAAP. and/or STAT. accounting skills

· A successful leader, who focuses on team member development

· Software experience in the following: SAP; Wings; Workiva preferred

· Ability to share perspective from undergoing a system implementation would be beneficial
