About the Role
The Company is seeking a Vice President for Research and Economic Development and Director of 1890 Land-Grant Programs (VPRED) to align with the strategic plan and vision of the institution. The VPRED will be responsible for leading the implementation of the company's research, Title III Program, and Land-Grant Programs. This includes tracking federal and state research agendas, and policy issues, and providing leadership in response. The role involves coordinating and monitoring comprehensive economic and community development activities, as well as overseeing the technical and fiscal operations of research and extension units. The VPRED will also promote and develop research contracts and grant activities, collaborate with faculty to secure funding, and ensure the management of resources from sponsored activities is compliant.The ideal candidate will have a strong background in research leadership, with the ability to establish and achieve university research goals. They should be adept at identifying and expanding research-based partnerships, maximizing campus-wide research efforts, and creating an environment that fosters innovation and collaboration. Experience in administering Land-Grant programs in accordance with state and federal regulations is essential, as is the ability to develop strategic processes for growing externally funded research programs. The VPRED will serve as a liaison with various regional economic development agencies and must have experience in planning and organizing economic and community development initiatives. Additionally, the role requires oversight of research and extension projects and budgets, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and procedures.
