Job Description - Vice President - Human Resources


Develop and execute human resource (HR) strategy in support of the overall operating plan and strategic direction of the organization. Leads a team of individuals in developing and executing organization-wide plans in the areas of compensation, benefits, payroll, talent acquisition, learning, development, and engagement. This position also oversees all internal communications. The VP-HR position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and is a member of the Senior Leadership Team. Essential Duties

This position performs, but is not limited to, the following essential functions:

  • Establish and implement HR efforts that support Trivium's mission to Create Hope, Empower Individuals, and Inspire Communities, and aligns with our Values.
  • Lead a team in a manner that demonstrates positive management values and standards to provide a sense of shared direction and purpose for the HR staff.
  • Utilize HR programs and practices to build a strong organizational culture that supports the attainment of the organization's goals and promotes employee satisfaction, engagement, and retention.
  • Lead and development of evidence-based HR plans and strategies to support the achievement of the overall organizational objectives.
  • Develop, implement, and communicate a comprehensive compensation and benefit plans that are competitive and cost effective for the organization.
  • Work with Leadership Team to ensure company compliance with all existing governmental and labor laws and reporting requirements; maintain minimal organization exposure to lawsuits.
  • Direct the development and implementation of strategic employee acquisition efforts including recruiting, hiring, and onboarding.
  • Direct the development and implementation of strategic employee engagement efforts including performance management, employee development plans, and talent acquisition efforts.
  • Drive the organization-wide learning and development strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, overseeing leadership development programs, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth to ensure a competent workforce that has the tools and knowledge to perform their role compliantly, readily, and safely.
  • Oversee internal communications to ensure employees receive engaging, informative, and consistent messaging regarding company changes and happenings. Particularly as it relates to employee matters that could personally affect them, organizational structure changes, compensation, benefit, payroll changes, etc.
  • Develop and monitor an annual department budget that includes all of HR's services and activities.
  • Lead a workforce culture that is built upon the principles and concepts of an inclusive work environment, company's core processes and operating system with consistency.
  • Oversee our adherence to accreditations, certifications, and regulatory reviews ensuring highest levels of standards are met.
  • Leads, attends and provides input of all required staff orientations, staff meetings. Completes all required training functions in a successful and timely manner
  • Complies and is aware of all HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) regulations that are required in this job  
  • Abides by all Company policies. All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements and without discrimination
  • Complete other duties that may be assigned

Requirements

To perform this job successfully, the individual must have the following education, experience and attributes:  

  • Bachelor's degree in HR Management, Organizational Communication, I-O Psychology, a related field, or substantial years of experience in this field.  
  • 5 years of experience building, leading and inspiring a HR team and/or sub-function(s).
  • Functional expertise across all HR disciplines.
  • Passion for and demonstrated experience integrating proven HR strategies with an organization's core mission.
  • High level of attention to detail and ability to problem solve strategically.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Builds and develops internal and external relationships. creates partnerships, builds trust, share ideas, and accomplishes work.
  • Develops others to become more effective through strengths, expectations, and coaching.
  • Embraces change and sets goals that align with the company's vision.
  • Encourages and inspires others through positivity, vision, confidence, challenges, and recognition.
  • Able to gather and evaluate information that leads to smart decisions.
  • Provide clear communication and share information regularly and concisely.
  • Hold themselves and their team accountable for their performance.
  • Must possess the ability to unify M&A organizations and lead change management related to such in the space of Human Relations.
  • The ability to embrace and display Trivium's values and philosophies.
  • Possess outstanding written, verbal, communication, persuasion, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • The ability to display strong organizational and analytical skills; and demonstrate the ability to organize, manage and execute responsibilities under limited time frames within a fast paced and changing environment.
  • The ability to enforce and assist in the development and implementation of corporate policies and procedures.
  • The ability to navigate across a variety of organizational cultures and unify them to a desired state.

  • Develops collaborative partnerships with others to integrate and align the leadership and talent strategy with the business strategy.
  • Maintains knowledge and understanding of current regulations, laws, best practices, and new developments by participating in professional conferences and educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining professional networks, and participating in professional organizations.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Master's degree in related field.
  • Experience leading HR services in a non-profit healthcare organization. 
  • Experience leading HR services in a partially unionized environment providing guidance on collective bargaining agreement administration, employee relations, and labor-management collaboration and negotiations.

Required Physical Demands and Working Conditions

These physical demands and working conditions represent the requirements necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the responsibilities of this job:  

  • Must possess or secure and maintain a valid driver’s license with a driving record that is acceptable to Trivium's auto insurance company.
  • Ability to regularly travel to Trivium locations and attend local, regional, and statewide meetings or engage in business activities when necessary and attend conferences. Expected overnight travels: 15%-20%
  • Working conditions are for a regular office environment. Noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. Must communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. Must observe details at close range. Must be able to remain in a stationary position approximately 50% of the time. Occasionally moves about inside the office to access office equipment. Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment such as a calculator and printer.
