Job Description - Vice President of Advancement

DEFINITION:

The Vice President of Advancement at Crown College serves as the Chief Advancement Officer and is responsible for designing and implementing comprehensive institution advancement programs focused on the goal of significantly increasing constituent involvement and fundraising outcomes. The advancement function includes responsibility for annual fund, major gifts and gift planning, capital campaigns, corporate and foundations relations, endowment, and alumni and constituent relations efforts, stewardship, and advancement services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
Reflect, articulate, and promote the mission, vision, and identity of Crown College.
Develop and execute strategies for each area in Advancement, including Development, Donor Relations, Planned Giving, Alumni Relations, Business Relations, Church Relations, and City Relations.
Develop a solid annual fund program at Crown, providing a growing budget impact at the institution.
Work with the President to establish a plan for capital projects. Assure this plan is implemented successfully by all parties involved.
Manage an individual portfolio of major gift donors making substantive contact (including face-to-face visits) and presenting major gift proposals to them in partnership with the President.
Provide leadership to execute the Advancement portion of Crown’s current five year Be Bold 2028 Strategic Plan.
Develop giving societies and other programs to encourage donor and alumni annual giving.
In partnership with the Director of Alumni Relations, develop new alumni donors and cultivate alumni donor relations.
Assure the database for all external constituents is well maintained and utilized for various campaigns.
Provide leadership for key events, including Homecoming and other alumni and donor events.
Develop and implement effective internal and external messaging and methods of advancement communication with the partnership of the Chief Communications Officer.
Collaborate with academic and staff leaders at the College to develop fundraising projects for their areas as approved by the President’s Cabinet.
Build relationships with key influencers and stakeholders within the Christian and Missionary Alliance and Twin Cities.
Represent the College at on and off-campus events.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Advance the mission, vision, and short and long-term goals of the College in concert with the President and Cabinet colleagues.
Work closely with the President in all phases of his advancement and campaign leadership activities.
Serve as a member of the President’s Cabinet and maintain close working relationships.
Experience building and leading a strong team that successfully met its goals.
Create and execute fundraising plans that utilize best practices in annual, major, and planned gift programs to meet fundraising goals.
Build a portfolio of high-net-worth individuals and secure major, capital, and planned gifts, as well as annual gifts and endowment support.
Ensure effective processes in all phases of donor qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
Proven ability to build strong collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, and external constituents.
Capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Drive to do what it takes to meet goals as an individual and a team leader.
Ability to manage budgets for the Advancement Department.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Committed Christian faith, as demonstrated by the integration of their faith in their daily lives.
Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
Ten plus years of professional experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (in addition to the above minimum qualifications):
Ten years of experience in fundraising or work that parallels fundraising.
