Job Description - Vice President of PD, Sourcing & Production

My client, a distinguished and forward-thinking company in the apparel industry is seeking a highly skilled VP or Senior Vice President of PD, Production and Sourcing. We are recognized for our commitment to quality, innovative designs, and ability to quickly adapt to market trends. We are looking for a seasoned leader to elevate our production capabilities and drive operational excellence within the apparel sector.
Position Overview:
The VP or Senior Vice President of PD, Production and Sourcing will be instrumental in overseeing and enhancing the production of our apparel lines. This executive role demands a deep understanding of apparel manufacturing processes, supply chain dynamics, and quality assurance. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in managing large-scale apparel production, coupled with a strategic vision to optimize and grow our production operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:

Develop and execute a comprehensive production strategy that aligns with the company’s objectives in the apparel industry. Lead initiatives to improve efficiency, quality, and innovation in apparel production.
Operational Management:

Manage the end-to-end apparel production process, including design integration, manufacturing planning, scheduling, and quality control. Ensure timely production of high-quality apparel products.
Product Development Collaboration:

Partner with design and merchandising teams to translate creative concepts into manufacturable products. Oversee the development process to ensure design integrity and feasibility in production.
Supply Chain and Sourcing:

Coordinate with supply chain and sourcing teams to ensure the availability of materials and components specific to apparel production. Optimize vendor relationships and manage inventory levels.
Cost Management:

Oversee the production budget and implement cost-control measures tailored to apparel manufacturing. Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising product quality or delivery schedules.
Team Leadership:

Build and lead a high-performing production team specialized in apparel. Foster a collaborative and innovative environment that supports professional growth and skill development.
Quality Assurance:

Establish and maintain rigorous quality control standards for apparel production. Implement continuous improvement practices to enhance product quality and reduce manufacturing defects.
Innovation and Technology:

Stay updated with the latest advancements in apparel manufacturing technologies and integrate these into the production process. Promote the adoption of innovative practices to maintain a competitive edge.
Cross-functional Coordination:

Work closely with design, marketing, sales, and logistics teams to ensure alignment on product development, production schedules, and market launches.
Compliance and Sustainability:

Ensure compliance with industry regulations, ethical standards, and environmental guidelines in apparel production. Drive initiatives to promote sustainable manufacturing practices.
Qualifications:
Experience:

Minimum of 20 years of experience in production management, with at least 10 years in a senior leadership role within the apparel industry.

Proven expertise in large-scale apparel manufacturing at a company with revenues of at least $500M - $1B.
Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Apparel Production, Fashion Merchandising, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
Industry Knowledge:

Extensive knowledge of apparel production processes, including cut-and-sew, garment finishing, and quality control. Familiarity with textile properties and fabric sourcing.
Leadership:

Demonstrated ability to lead and develop large apparel production teams. Strong skills in team building, conflict resolution, and motivation.
Technical Expertise:

Proficiency in apparel production techniques, quality assurance methodologies, supply chain management, and lean manufacturing principles.
Analytical Skills:

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Experience with data-driven decision-making and process optimization in apparel manufacturing.
Communication:

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate complex production concepts to diverse audiences within the apparel sector.
Adaptability:

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment specific to the apparel industry. Flexibility to adapt to changing business needs and market trends.
Ethics:

High level of integrity and ethical standards. Commitment to upholding company values and promoting ethical practices in apparel production.
