About the Role
The Vice President, Philanthropy is a key leadership role responsible for advancing fundraising efforts within the health system. This includes designing and implementing fundraising goals, leading a team of front-line fundraisers, and partnering with medical and executive leadership to promote key funding initiatives. The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of high-level prospects and donors, oversee the creation of cultivation and stewardship opportunities, and ensure collaborative relationships with medical and executive leadership. Additionally, the role involves supporting specific committees of the Board of Trustees and working across the health system on transformative gifts. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree, a minimum of 15 years of experience in major gift fundraising, and a proven track record of closing major and principal gifts.Candidates for this role must be visionary leaders with extraordinary communication skills, the ability to work across all levels of an organization, and a commitment to continuous improvement. The role requires an entrepreneurial, flexible, and energetic leader who can inspire loyalty and hard work. Experience in medical philanthropy is preferred, as is a full understanding of comprehensive development programs. The candidate should be adept at using information systems to support fundraising activities and have the ability to travel and work occasional evenings and weekends. Competencies in decision-making, problem-solving, and a strong customer service orientation are essential, as is the ability to lead and mentor a team to ensure staff engagement and productivity.
