Summary:
Antonian College Preparatory High School is seeking a dynamic, mission-driven educational leader to serve as the Vice Principal of Curriculum and Instruction. This role is responsible for overseeing the academic program and instructional practices to ensure high standards of teaching and learning that reflect both Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards and the values of Catholic education.
The Vice Principal will provide strategic leadership in curriculum development, instructional improvement, professional development, student achievement, and program assessment. They will collaborate with faculty, staff, and administration to foster a culture of continuous academic excellence and spiritual formation. Key responsibilities include developing a cohesive curriculum aligned with Catholic teachings, leading data-driven instructional initiatives, mentoring teachers, managing academic programming, and supporting cross-departmental alignment.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Catholic school educator and instructional leader who is deeply committed to the holistic development of students and faculty, upholding the mission and values of Antonian College Preparatory High School.
Position Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and oversee a high-quality instructional program that includes continuous improvement in building cohesive, standards-based (TEKS) curriculum that integrates Catholic teachings and values.
Collaborate with academic staff on the successful execution, measurement and achievement of instructional goals.
Assess and analyze data to determine targets for student achievement and provide support for achieving targets.
Plan, coordinate and facilitate meaningful professional development opportunities to support high quality instruction, assessments, student support and engagement through identifying areas of opportunities for growth and student achievement data.
Prepare, build, and implement the Master Schedule that aligns to relevant approved TEA TEKS based courses in conjunction with the Registrar, Counselors and Principal.
Support and mentor teachers through professional development focused on effective instructional strategies and differentiated learning to meet diverse student needs.
Oversee assessment programs (NWEA, College Board, ARK), data analysis, and use results to guide instructional improvements, initiatives and student achievement.
Collaborate with school leadership to align curriculum goals with accreditation requirements.
Provide direct oversight and lead efforts for the Learning Center to ensure all areas of the Building Strong Foundation (Intervention Plans) system has accountability measures that creates awareness schoolwide on students who are in need of academic support.
Be a regular presence in classrooms, informally observing and following-up with teachers and students in order to support a positive learning environment, engaging learning opportunities, and high expectations for student work and outcomes.
Develop clear improvement/coaching plans for teachers to ensure student improvement and provide feedback to teacher teachers through instructional coaching.
Support teacher growth in the area of student engagement and relevant lesson planning through the used of shared multiple instructional strategies/processes with teachers during planning times.
Lead Department Chais in building routines to promote a culture of continuous improvement.
Oversee, support and collaborate with the Director of Technology to ensure technology needs are met.
Oversee, support and collaborate with the Counseling Department to ensure the school provides exceptional student social-emotional support as well as effective guidance through the college application process.
Oversee and support the library and librarian to ensure the library programming provides resources that impact the quality of instruction in the classroom.
Provide direct oversight for the Academic Dean to ensure all areas of instructional leadership and instructional initiatives are impacting the classroom and student achievement.
Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment that supports Catholic social teaching and student spiritual growth.
Facilitate curriculum committees and coordinate cross-departmental (vertical and horizontal) curriculum alignment through department meetings.
Assist in recruitment, evaluation, and retention of qualified teaching staff.
Engage with parents and the broader school community to communicate academic expectations and celebrate student success.
Stay current with educational research, technology integration, and best practices to enhance teaching and learning.
Provide leadership and oversee all aspects of the Academic Programming that results in an increase in student achievement.
Collect and analyze program data to evaluate effectiveness and inform decision-making.
Provide guidance in crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and due process procedures when needed.
Promote the dignity of every student, ensuring that all special education practices are rooted in the principles of Catholic social teaching.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church who possesses a commitment to ongoing formation in catechetical and spiritual leadership development.
Master’s degree or higher in Educational Leadership or related field.
18 credit hours in educational administration and supervision courses or a valid, appropriate state certificate for a principal.
Experience
Seeking candidates with 5 or more years of teaching experience and demonstrated leadership and administrative skills.
