Job Description - Visiting Assistant Professor, CMHC

Summary:

The College of Arts and Sciences is currently accepting applications for the position of Visiting Professor in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) program. This position will serve for one year as a core faculty member in the CMHC program. The position is a primary teaching role in the graduate CMHC program which includes teaching a 4-4 load in fall and spring terms. Opportunities to teach in the undergraduate psychology program may also be included. Applicants with research, clinical, supervision, advocacy, social justice, and substance abuse experiences will be considered strong candidates for this position.

Job Description:

Essential duties and responsibilities

 

  • Teach courses in accordance with college guidelines
  • Participate in the college's assessment program of student performance
  • Timely response to student questions and concerns
  • Timely submission of university reports and requirements, such as attendance, grades, and student progress reports

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities

 

  • Candidates must be proficient with using technology for instructional delivery, such as learning management systems (e.g. Canvas) and presentation software (e.g. PowerPoint)
  • Candidates must have an appreciation of different learning styles to incorporate into their instructional delivery
  • Candidates must have excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills

 

Minimum qualifications

 

  • Candidates must have graduated with a Ph.D. in Counseling, Counselor Education, or a Counselor Education and Supervision program; or have a related doctoral degree and have been employed as a faculty member in a counselor education training program for approximately one academic year. Candidates who have completed degrees from a CACREP-accredited program will be preferred. 
  • All degrees must have been completed at a regionally accredited institution
