Volunteer & Community Engagement Supervisor

Description

  The Volunteer & Community Engagement Supervisor is responsible for developing and managing the volunteer program and serving as a hospital liaison to the community. This position plays a key role in cultivating strategic community partnerships, overseeing volunteer activities, and managing WMMC’s sponsorship process. The role is vital in driving success through community involvement, visibility, and engagement that aligns with the hospital's mission and strategic goals. Works closely with WMMC Auxiliary as the Auxiliary Liaison to ensure WMMC and volunteer needs are met. Assists with marketing initiatives as needed.

  Volunteer Management

· Recruit, train, schedule, and retain individual and group volunteers.

· Regularly assess volunteer satisfaction and ensure placements align with individual interests and organizational needs.

· Maintain volunteer files, applications, and data for compliance and reporting.

· Coordinate volunteer appreciation events and recognition activities.

· Serve as WMMC Auxiliary Liaison to ensure needs are aligned and supported.

· Oversee operations and volunteer staffing.

· Maintains budget and financial accountability.

Community Engagement & Liaison

· Develop and execute a comprehensive community engagement plan that strengthens WMMC’s community presence.

· Serve as a representative of WMMC at community events (in partnership with hospital staff and leadership), task forces, and civic functions.

· Cultivate relationships with local organizations, businesses, schools, and community leaders to foster partnerships and advance the hospital’s mission.

· Collaborate with internal departments and leadership to align outreach efforts with hospital initiatives.

· Act as the primary liaison for sponsorship opportunities, ensuring alignment with organizational values and objectives.

· Manage the sponsorship process from request intake through evaluation and fulfillment, including cross-departmental coordination.

Administrative & General Responsibilities

· Ensure compliance with hospital policies and relevant regulatory requirements.

· Maintain regular, predictable attendance and flexibility with scheduling needs.

· Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission and strategic initiatives of WMMC.

Requirements

· Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Recreation, Social Services or related field.

· 3 years related experience in a volunteer or philanthropy department/ environment with progressive responsibilities required.

· Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

· Managerial, communication and organizational skills.

· Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively.

· Ability to build positive relationships with all levels of leadership throughout Medical Center and community.

· Experience with marketing/communications/public relations a plus.

· Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work within the established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the hospital/clinic.
