We’re looking for a dynamic and detail-driven coordinator to bring this vision to life.

As the Volunteer and Donor Engagement Coordinator, you’ll lead the development of a meaningful and well-managed volunteer program while playing a key role in cultivating relationships with donors who share our commitment to inclusion and impact. Your ability to stay organized, juggle priorities, and nurture people will ensure that our development and stewardship efforts continue to thrive.

This role blends creativity, community-building, and operational excellence. You’ll collaborate across teams to support events, steward donors, and help tell the story of why Hand in Hand matters.

The ideal candidate is mission-minded, organized, has an eye for detail, and thrives on building strong relationships. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Volunteer Coordination

  • Recruit, advertise, and develop a pipeline of student volunteers.
  • Support recruitment and placement of corporate volunteers.
  • Coordinate background checks, paperwork, and communication before, during, and after volunteer events.
  • Provide customer service and support for volunteers, ensuring a positive experience.
  • Coordinate logistics, including silent auctions, signage, collateral materials, and RSVPs.campaigns.

Fundraising Event Support

  • Assist in planning and executing fundraising events, donor appreciation gatherings, and campaigns.
  • Process and acknowledge donations, ensuring timely thank-you letters and receipts, and RSVPs.

Donor Relations & Stewardship

  • Maintain and update donor databases, tracking giving history, engagement, and donation trends to support relationship-building efforts.
  • Execute donor stewardship plans that ensure all donors, from first-time givers to long-term supporters, receive meaningful and personalized engagement.
  • Manage the new donor journey pipeline, ensuring new donors feel welcomed, informed, and valued through timely acknowledgments, impact updates, and invitations to engage further.
  • Assist in donor recognition efforts, including sending thank-you notes, follow-up communications, and impact reports to demonstrate transparency and appreciation.
  • Facilitate donor appreciation initiatives, such as personalized outreach, exclusive donor updates, appreciation events, and recognition opportunities utilizing the CEO and Director of Development.
  • Support efforts to increase donor retention by identifying opportunities to deepen engagement through storytelling, special campaigns, and mission-driven experiences.
  • Help maintain the development plan and calendar.

Marketing & Communication Support

  • Assist with social media updates, newsletters, blogs, and donor communications.
  • Assist with basic website updates
  • Manage schedules, appointments, and travel arrangements for development staff.

Administrative Support

  • Manage schedules, appointments, and travel arrangements for development staff.
  • Handle donor correspondence via email, mail, and phone.
  • Coordinate with the finance team to reconcile donation records and develop invoices. Assist team in pulling end-of-month reports.

Other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience Required

· GED or High school diploma.

· 6 months of relevant experience (fundraising, volunteer coordination, sales)

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Individuals must maintain a valid driver’s license and insurance and possess reliable transportation. Technology/Equipment

Ability to effectively and efficiently make use of technology such as Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word. As well as the volunteer engagement software Bloomerang.

  • Attention to Detail & Accuracy: Ensures donor records, event materials, and correspondence are precise and error-free.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Works effectively with teachers, administrative staff, and other team members. Provides support in a manner that enhances the overall functioning of the organization.
  • Communication Skills: Clearly convey information to donors, volunteers, and team members in both written and verbal forms. Ability to document and report necessary information accurately.
  • Customer Service Orientation: Provides excellent support to volunteers and donors. Friendly and welcoming demeanor when interacting with donors, volunteers, and staff. Effective communication skills for answering phones, emails, and hosting with volunteer training.
  • Initiative & Problem-Solving: Proactively identifies and resolves challenges in development operations.
  • Organization & Time Management: Manages multiple priorities effectively and meets deadlines.
  • Professionalism: Demonstrates a professional attitude in all interactions within the organization and when representing Hand in Hand out in public. Uphold confidentiality and integrity in all job-related activities.
  • Tech Proficiency: Comfortable with email, spreadsheets, donor CRM (Bloomerang), and basic design tools.

Salary Description

$18-$21/per hour
