Volunteer & Operations Specialist

Are you someone who loves working with people and thrives in a hands-on environment? Do you enjoy keeping things organized and running smoothly behind the scenes? RAFT (Resource Area for Teaching) is looking for a friendly and detail-oriented Volunteer and Operations Specialist to join our team!

In this role, you’ll be the go-to person for supporting and engaging our amazing volunteers, both onsite and offsite, ensuring they feel welcomed, supported, and productive. At the same time, you’ll play a vital role in our daily operations by managing inventory, purchasing, and kit production through our ERP system (NetSuite). Your work will help keep our STEAM kits moving and our shelves stocked, all while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.

You’ll also step in to support our retail and membership teams as needed, whether it’s greeting new members, answering questions, or operating the register. No two days will be the same, and your contributions will directly support educators and students across the community.

Sample of Things You’ll Do:

• Collaborate with and coordinate communication with Volunteer and Event Coordinator for all volunteers.


• Greets and sets up volunteers at their tasks and projects.


• Supports volunteers with questions and provides direction on tasks to maintain volunteers engaged and productive.


• Setups and breakdowns of volunteer stations including cleaning, organizing, etc.


• Manages and tracks materials used in kit production, including retrieving materials from or putting materials back in storage.


• ERP(NetSuite) support for the Production Director (BOMs, Purchasing, Inventory).


• Serves as the purchased inventory processing lead; makes material ready for the sales floor.


• Maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counts, audits and root cause analysis of variances.


• Identify slow-moving, excess, or obsolete inventory and lead the process for disposition or reallocation.


• Operate the Point of Sale (PoS) system including processing of cash, credit and P.O. transactions.


• Support the membership desk: help new members with computer entry and answer general membership questions.

What We’re Looking For:

• Two or more years of experiencing coordinating volunteer events, supply chain management or similar experience


• Effective event administration and people management.


• Excellent written and verbal communication.


• Able to adhere to deadlines by prioritizing multiple calendars effectively.


• Excellent organizational and time management.


• BOM/data management & strong analytical skills
