Job Description - Volunteer Coordinator & Community Liaison


Location: Harbor House
Organization: Catholic Charities Wichita 
Type: Full-Time | Hourly | In-Person| Mon-Fri | 9am-6pm


Summary:
Under the general direction of the Harbor House Program Director, this position is responsible for recruiting, training, and supervising volunteers. The role actively develops and maintains relationships within the community and works to strengthen collaboration among victim service providers through training, presentations, and community awareness initiatives.

Daily Responsibilities: 

  • Creates and develops relationships with community partners to raise awareness of Harbor House and domestic violence services that support survivors.
  • Provides training and delivers presentations to community partners and the broader community to increase awareness and understanding of services.
  • Represents Harbor House at community events and outreach activities.
  • Engages with community partners, including law enforcement, courts, and hospitals, to distribute materials and streamline processes.
  • Cultivates relationships with potential donors, working in conjunction with the development team to ensure compliance with organizational protocols.
  • Assesses the program’s volunteer needs and identifies effective ways to utilize volunteers to fulfill those needs.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for program volunteers; assesses program needs; develops volunteer position descriptions; and recruits and trains volunteers.
  • Supervises and schedules volunteers in accordance with volunteer policies and procedures.
  • Provides ongoing education and training for volunteers, with a specific focus on domestic violence.
  • Provides support in training new hires on volunteer processes and proper donation tracking.
  • Promotes the effective use of volunteers throughout the program.
  • Ensures accurate data entry and tracking within the agency database.
  • Stays current with developments and best practices in the fields of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Skills and Abilities: 
  • Proficient in using a personal computer, including mouse and keyboard operation, with familiarity in Windows and Microsoft Office applications.

Education & Experience: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in the field of domestic violence is preferred.

Exposures and Physical Demands: 
  • Exposures: Controlled work environment with noise/vibrations from general office equipment. Minimal exposure to fumes/dust/odors.
  • Work type: Moderate, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
  • Climbing/Balancing/Freedom to Move: Minimally required to move about office. Sit approximately 75% of time.
  • Stooping/Bending: Frequently.
  • Reaching: Occasional, overhead as well as horizontal and down.
  • Vision: Adequate to perform essential functions.
  • Color vision: No particular requirement.
  • Hearing: Frequently perceive nature of sounds by ear.
  • Speech: Frequently express ideas by means of spoken word.
  • Eye/Hand/Foot Coordination: Frequently operates equipment requiring moderate ability.
  • Manual Dexterity: Frequently operates equipment requiring moderate ability.
  • Mobility: Valid Kansas Driver’s License, proof of insurance, reliable transportation.
