Job Description - Volunteer Power Superintendent

 


Volunteer Power


Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead the daily operations of our powerline services. The ideal candidate will manage all powerline projects’ scheduling, staffing, planning, and coordination. This role leads the successful delivery of services, including safety, quality, on-time, customer satisfaction, and efficiency. The Superintendent provides leadership, manages resources, and drives continuous process improvement to ensure the company's success in delivering safe and reliable powerline infrastructure.


 


Key Responsibilities:


1. Injury-Free Culture:



  • Develop and enable safety processes and training programs to maintain a zero-injury culture.

  • Provide ongoing oversight and mentorship to ensure compliance with injury free expectations.

  • Ensure all teams properly use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), tools, and equipment.

  • Maintain adherence to OSHA regulations and guidelines on all projects.


2. Talent Management:



  • Assist in hiring and recruiting skilled workers for power line projects.

  • Develop and support the growth of team members through training and mentorship.

  • Manage team placements, ensuring individuals are in roles that align with their skills and expertise.


3. Operations Management:



  • Oversee all power line projects’ scheduling, staffing, planning, and coordination.

  • Ensure efficient resourcing of manpower and equipment for project success.

  • Monitor and adjust project schedules to keep projects on track and aligned with timelines.


4. Work Delivery:



  • Lead pre-job planning and coordinate material and equipment for power line projects.

  • Ensure work is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

  • Manage workforce productivity and ensure adherence to safety, quality, and efficiency standards.

  • Actively engage with customers to ensure satisfaction and address any issues that arise.


5. Project Success:



  • Provide leadership in the field and within the company to align operations with company goals.

  • Foster and maintain strong customer relationships, acting as the primary point of contact.

  • Collaborate with leadership, estimating, and project management teams to align operational efforts with project objectives.


6. Process Improvement:



  • Identify and implement opportunities for operational improvement to enhance efficiency and quality.

  • Foster a culture of accountability, repeatability, and growth within the operations team.

  • Lead efforts to scale operations and continuously improve processes to support company growth.


 


Qualifications:



  • 10 years of experience in power line construction, with a deep understanding of industry best practices and technical requirements.

  • 5 years of operational leadership experience, demonstrating the ability to manage teams, resources, and projects effectively.

  • Culture fit: People and customer-focused; embodies core values of honesty, integrity, care, humility, and a hunger for continuous improvement.

  • Proven record of managing complex construction programs in a high-growth environment, with a focus on scaling operations efficiently.

  • Extensive experience working with utilities and contractors, with a strong understanding of the dynamics between all stakeholders.

  • In-depth knowledge and experience in the distribution, transmission, and substation markets, including technical aspects of power line services.

  • Local to Tennessee preferred, to leverage regional expertise and connections within the area.
