The Volunteer Services Specialist recruits, onboards, trains, schedules, and supports volunteers serving within the Coalition’s Employment Services program, with a primary focus on the AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP program. In partnership with Employment Services staff, this role coordinates volunteer assignments that support individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness in preparing for and obtaining employment. The position ensures compliance with AmeriCorps Seniors requirements, including documentation, reporting, and tracking volunteer service activities. Highly collaborative, this position works across departments to support effective volunteer engagement aligned with organizational mission and program goals.

Essential Job Functions
- Recruit, screen, onboard, train, schedule, supervise, and recognize volunteers supporting the Employment Services program, with a primary focus on the AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP program.
- Coordinate volunteer assignments and schedules in collaboration with Employment Services staff to ensure volunteers are appropriately matched to program needs and client services.
- Provide ongoing communication, support, coaching, and problem-solving to volunteers to promote engagement, retention, and positive volunteer experience.
- Ensure compliance with AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP requirements and applicable federal grant regulations by maintaining volunteer records, tracking service hours, completing required documentation, and supporting grant reporting and program evaluation activities.
- Coordinate volunteer orientation, training, and recognition activities while fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and mission-driven volunteer environment.
- Collaborate with the Associate Director of Employment Services and interdisciplinary staff to identify and implement volunteer-supported activities that enhance client employment readiness and align with program goals.
- Maintain accurate volunteer records and activity data using volunteer management systems and organizational databases and prepare reports as requested.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with volunteer management systems or database platforms preferred.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively across multiple formats with diverse audiences, including staff, volunteers, and program participants.
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred.
Experience
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in volunteer coordination, nonprofit program support, community engagement, or related role in human services.
- Experience scheduling, coordinating, and supporting volunteers or staff in a service-oriented environment.
- Experience in volunteer coordination, nonprofit program delivery, community engagement, or related human services work strongly preferred.
