Job Description

The Volunteer Experience Manager will continuously improve the operation and safety of the volunteer experience, training any Volunteer Services staff and volunteer groups.

A primary area of responsibility will focus on volunteer relationship management and serving as an assistant communicator ensuring compelling, concise, and accurate messaging of the organization’s initiatives and events, and cultivating and stewarding volunteers into becoming donors. This position interacts with the public and must have exceptional interpersonal, presentation, and problem-solving skills. There will be ongoing and consistent collaboration with other key department members so being a team player is a must. This position will commit to the Mission, Vision, and Values of West Houston Assistance Ministries.
Education/Experience
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent job experience. Hold a valid driver’s license with current auto insurance. Knowledge of food safety and food handling practices. Prior managerial experience. Prior Fundraising and/or Nonprofit Volunteer Management experience. Experience working with diverse populations.
Skills/Abilities
High level of communication skills; professional and diplomatic ability to interact with multiple departments. Leadership and team development skills; ability to nurture, grow, and enable volunteer strengths to promote the success of our programs. Public speaking skills and ability to represent WHAM at community events and in outreach to local businesses. Ability to make high-level decisions within the scope of the department or in the absence of senior management. Analytical skills and ability to run technical reports from CRM databases -

and draw insight to lead decision-making. Technical skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, knowledge of Apricot, Volunteer Hub, Etapestry, or Classy.
