Job Description - VP, Enterprise Technology

Mission North is Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies in 2024. We are a strategic communications agency focused on companies shaping our future to seize the moments shaping their own. Changemakers like Brex, Canva, Ginkgo Bioworks, Google, LinkedIn, LanzaTech, Mozilla, Snowflake, and Zoom turn to us to navigate change and accelerate their impact at every growth stage. The strategic communications landscape is ever-evolving, and our reputation of innovation and impact is constant. Over the past 20 years, our stories about breakthrough products, categories, and movements - and the iconic teams behind them - have helped enable more than one trillion dollars in market value.
Mission North’s Enterprise Technology Group serves approximately two dozen B2B companies across AI, software development, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, collaboration, data analytics, high performance computing, and supply chain/logistics. Some clients we are proud to represent are: ANSYS, Canva, Celonis, Confluent, IonQ, Mozilla, Norwest Venture Partners, Sonatype, Snowflake and Workato.
We need an experienced leader to play a hands-on role leading and growing our portfolio of AI, enterprise IT and tech infrastructure segments of our Enterprise Technology Group.
What makes us Mission North?
We’re a down-to-earth team that knows how to have fun at work and outside the office
We believe in lifelong learning and personal growth
Recognizing employees for their hard work is deeply embedded in our culture
Have deep knowledge and strong relationships in AI, cloud, software development, data analytics, open-source technology and enterprise IT infrastructure.
Are passionate about how these technologies are redefining how we live and work.
Get it: you have bona fide knowledge and demonstrable curiosity about the enterprise tech landscape — including the rapidly evolving generative AI space.
Know enough to be dangerous, as they say, about cybersecurity, marketing tech, supply chain/logistics, and collaboration technologies.
Here’s what you would be doing day-to-day:
You will be responsible for client retention, product/service evolution, staff development and portfolio growth.
You’ll collaborate with your peers who oversee other Enterprise Innovation segments, working together to set and reach goals for the broader group
Be a trusted strategic partner to enterprise B2B clients, their executive teams, and promote communications strategies that will help them reach their full potential.
Set and plan against revenue goals, talent development, agency marketing, lead generation and new business development for the Enterprise Innovation Group, with a focus on our infrastructure and bleeding edge tech accounts.
Proactively drive new business efforts with minimal oversight. This includes overseeing pitch teams from start to finish during the pitch process.
Generate new revenue with existing clients. You have a keen eye for timing strategic recommendations that align the scope of work to meet the needs of our clients.
Work with our specialists to provide clients with programs that integrate traditional PR, digital, and social media platforms.
Serve as a steward of Mission North’s values and operating principles.
Mentor and coach staff across all levels of skills development.
Work closely with fellow account leads to direct account staffing and forecasting.
Represent Mission North and our clients at industry events for new business networking and personal professional development.
Qualifications include:

Deep expertise in at least three of the following key focus areas: app and software development, artificial intelligence, cloud infrastructure, data infrastructure and analytics, and quantum computing.
Experience architecting integrated communications strategies through milestone moments for companies (e.g. launching from stealth, creating a new category, managing a crisis, or an IPO).
Compelling communication and presentation skills.
Exceptional creative and content development skills on technical topics.
Strong new business development skills with a proven track record of closing and retaining new clients.
Experience leading strategic workshops and initiatives including messaging, storyline development, thought leadership platform development and media training.
Proven track record of simultaneously directing multiple teams at PR/comms agencies and/or within the comms function of enterprise tech companies.
Strong management skills and genuine interest in managing and mentoring teams.
Thrive in a dynamic environment with multiple competing priorities.
