The Vice President of Hospitality is responsible for the strategic and operational oversight of a select hotel portfolio, with a primary focus on maximizing asset performance and financial returns. This role serves as the bridge between ownership and third-party hospitality management groups (HMGs), ensuring that management partners execute business plans, meet performance expectations, and align with Holladay’s investment goals.

Key Responsibilities

Asset & Operational Oversight

  • Onboards Hospitality Management Groups (HMGs). 
  • Acts as the ownership representative in all dealings with hotel management companies.
  • Reviews and approves annual budgets, operating plans, and capital expenditures; evaluate performance against these benchmarks.
  • Monitors and assesses financial reporting and operational data to identify trends, variances, and improvement opportunities.
  • Leads site visits and operational reviews to ensure management is effectively operating, maintaining, and marketing each      hotel.
  • Supports property-level initiatives as needed to maintain franchise compliance, quality assurance, and operational efficiency.

Strategic Planning & Market Positioning

  • Participates in strategic growth initiatives, including market analysis, brand/franchise evaluations, and support of new developments.
  • Provides feedback on investment opportunities, site selection, and property positioning strategies.
  • Evaluates pricing strategies and yield management practices to drive RevPAR and profitability.
  • Monitors market trends, industry benchmarks, and local supply/demand dynamics that impact portfolio performance.

Communication & Reporting

  • Provides regular written updates to ownership detailing operational and financial performance.
  • Attends management and ownership meetings; communicate key findings, risks, and opportunities.
  • Consolidates reporting from management companies to create a consistent, actionable framework for executive stakeholders.

Financial & Performance Analysis

  • Reviews monthly and quarterly performance metrics, comparing results to budgets and strategic goals.
  • Recommends and follows up on corrective actions for underperforming assets, including renegotiation of management terms if      necessary.
  • Aligns financial reports and forecasts with HPSMI requirements and oversee development of internal cash flow tools.

Franchise & Development Support

  • Serves as the primary interface with franchise representatives on compliance, QA audits, and operational support tools.
  • Participates in property development timelines including franchising, permitting, licensing, and pre-opening support.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration or relevant professional experience required. 
  • Minimum 10 years of hotel operations or asset management experience, including 5 years in an executive or regional leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of financial modeling, hotel industry KPIs, and brand/franchise systems.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel as needed (approximately 15%).

Additional Details

  • This position does not have direct responsibility for property-level culture or team engagement, but is involved in the leadership & oversight of management companies and their hotel leadership.
  • Serves as a senior advisor to internal leadership and external management partners on hospitality asset strategy.
  • Expected to embody and support Holladay’s ENRICH values through high-level leadership and ethical business practices.
