Summary:
Tri Star Energy seeks an experienced and forward-thinking Vice President of Information Technology to lead our IT team at our Store Support Center in Nashville, TN. This role requires a visionary who can set strategy and design, integrate, and implement technology solutions aligned with organizational goals, opportunities, and future growth initiatives.
The VP of IT is responsible for anticipating and ensuring all necessary IT systems are in place and secure to support Tri Star Energy’s technological and operational infrastructure. Works collaboratively as a member of the Executive Team and acts as a technologist and business expert to communicate, educate, influence, and transform. Has fiduciary responsibility for developing, administering, monitoring, and coordinating the enterprise technology budget, as well as decision-making related to technology needs throughout all departments and programs across the organization.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Provides overall leadership and management to the IT Department, including overseeing all design, development, implementation, and integration of in-house and 3rd party technology, network infrastructure, cybersecurity, and PCI compliance solutions.
- Provides technical leadership at the enterprise level and is integral in supporting all of the Company’s areas of operations.
- Leads in developing standard operating procedures and best practices, including written protocols and guidance for IT staff and end-users.
- Develops objectives and strategies for implementing innovative solutions, both hardware and software, while optimizing existing systems, applications, and information.
- Makes recommendations and presents business advantages for technology initiatives and improvements. Leads the IT team in identifying, comparing, selecting, and implementing new technology solutions and partnerships to meet current and future needs.
- Expands existing customer relationships, anticipates current and future needs, develops new business opportunities, and cultivates partner relationships.
- Tracks and controls the development of annual operating and capital budgets for purchasing, staffing, and technology operations.
- Design and lead the company’s technology strategy implementation while ensuring the implementation and enforcement of technology security and standards across the organization.
- Collaborates with key stakeholders to ensure cross-functional groups are aligned on IT services and expectations. Shares information and develops a collective understanding of programs and issues.
- Structures technology policies, procedures, and standards to ensure organizational success.
- Makes technology-related recommendations supported by data for policy adoption, including analysis of current regulatory actions, technological innovations, and fiduciary considerations.
- Researches to remain up-to-date and knowledgeable regarding industry trends and emerging technologies in anticipation of new processes and system alterations, as well as to analyze and improve upon technology standards across the organization to maintain a technological advantage for teaching and learning.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in business or a technology-related discipline.
- Proven experience developing, executing, and completing strategic plans to meet business needs.
- 10+ years of broad experience in information technology, including DevOps, Cyber Security, Database Administration/Data Warehousing/Business Intelligence, Cloud Services, Software Development, Project Management, and Network Infrastructure.
- 5+ years of experience leading Mid to Large-size geographically distributed organizations as a Director of IT, VP of IT, or CIO/CTO.
- Experience as an IT leader in the Retail, Food Service, Grocery, Restaurant, Fuel Delivery, or C-Store Industries.
- PCI Compliance experience.
- Change Management and Process Transformation experience.
- Lives in or is willing to relocate to Middle TN area.
- OR, any appropriate combination of work, education, and industry experience above.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in business or a technology-related discipline.
- Advanced experience in Application Integration and Project Management methodologies.
- Advanced Physical and Digital Security experience.
- Appropriate Security, Network, Data, and/or Software accreditations.
- Experience with IT road mapping and direction setting.
- Broad experience and knowledge across financial, merchandising, order management, consumer digital, payment, and POS solutions.
- Experience undertaking IT modernization programs and projects.
- Artificial Intelligence and Automation solutions implementations.
