Our

Technologyteam

has 6 different departments: Information Security, Service Delivery, Business Enabling Systems, eCommerce & Marketing Technology, Data and Stores, Services & Supply Chain.
Whether it’s online or in our stores, the work that the IT team does is instrumental in PetSmart’s success. We have a strategic and actionable plan underway and are looking for associates who are just as excited about it as we are.

About the Location

Hybrid Position:
This position is based in

Phoenix, Arizona

and may be considered Hybrid based on PetSmart’s FlexSmart policy and business needs. A Hybrid work arrangement is considered to be a blend of onsite and remote work activity. Associates with a Hybrid work arrangement have a work space at Phoenix Home Office and can be required to come onsite between 1-5 days a week as determined by leadership and based on business needs.

About the Job

VP Tech - Chief Information Security Officer (CISO)
The Vice President, Chief Information Security Officer is responsible for leading the development and implementation of the enterprise-wide information security strategy, policies, standards, and practices. This role will ensure that the security of the company's data, systems, and networks is aligned with PetSmart objectives and risk appetite. The Vice President, Chief Information Security Officer will also oversee cyber security and technology compliance related functions such as security architecture, security engineering, workforce identity and access management, cyber threat and incident response, and technology compliance.
Technology Delivery Responsibilities

Develop and maintain the information security vision, strategy, roadmap, and budget for the company.
Establish and enforce information security policies, standards, guidelines, and best practices across the organization.
Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and contractual obligations related to information security.
Manage security operations, overseeing the detection, analysis, containment, and remediation of security incidents.
Build and maintain a threat intelligence program that provides timely and actionable insights on the evolving threat landscape.
Manage the vulnerability management program and ensure that the security posture of the company's assets is continuously monitored and improved.
Collaborate with other technology leaders and business stakeholders to ensure that security is integrated into the design, development, and delivery of technology solutions and services.
Evaluate and recommend security technologies, tools, and vendors that meet the company's needs and requirements.
Stay abreast of the latest security trends, threats, and best practices and provide thought leadership and guidance to the organization.
Leadership Responsibilities

Lead the security governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) program and provide regular reporting to senior management and the board of directors.
Represent PetSmart Technology in supporting enterprise functions such as Compliance, Data Privacy, and Enterprise Risk Management.
Develop and implement a security awareness and education program that fosters a culture of security among associates, contractors, and partners.
Manage and mentor a team of security professionals and foster a collaborative and high-performance environment that enables our associates to be the trusted partner to pet parents.
Act as a member of the Leadership Team of the PetSmart Technology organization that is responsible for departmental outcomes and improvements required to create enterprise value for PetSmart.
Qualifications

Seasoned executive in the Retail Technology space
Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in information security, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, cybersecurity, or related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CISA, CRISC) are preferred.
Demonstrated experience in developing and executing a comprehensive information security strategy and program for a large and complex organization.
In-depth knowledge of information security frameworks, standards, methodologies, and best practices (e.g., NIST, ISO, COBIT, SANS, OWASP).
Knowledge of industry relevant compliance requirements such as PCI-DSS, SOX, CCPA, CPRA, and other data privacy regulations.
Deep and thorough understanding of security technologies, architectures, and solutions across various domains (e.g., network, endpoint, cloud, mobile, web, application, identity, access, encryption, etc.).
Proven ability to manage security incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex security concepts and issues to technical and non-technical audiences.
Proven and effective leadership skills, with the ability to build and manage a high-performing team.
Ability to build and maintain relationships with vendors and partners within all levels of the organization.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Keen business acumen and understanding of business operations.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
