Position Summary

The Navigation and Day Room Support Specialist is a vital member of the Veteran Resource Center (VRC), a program of Family Support Services. This position ensures that the Day Room and Navigation Center are welcoming, accessible, and fully supported during business hours. The specialist will engage directly with veterans and their families, provide peer support, assist with resource navigation, and maintain a safe, hospitable environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the main point of contact in the navigation center/day room during operating hours, fostering a welcoming and supportive environment for veterans and their


• Welcome and engage visitors, offering peer support and guiding them to the appropriate resources or members of the navigation team.


• Create an environment that encourages positive peer support, allowing veterans to connect and share their lived experiences with one


• Maintain knowledge of local and regional resources available to veterans and their families, covering housing, mental health services, employment opportunities, and other support


• Work closely with the navigation team to ensure smooth service delivery, including coordinating with staff who are in sessions or off-site.


• Help manage donations by accepting, organizing, and distributing items as necessary (requires ability to lift up to 25 lbs).


• Oversee the day room to maintain a clean, safe, and functional environment for clients and visitors.
