VRF Technician

Reports To: Mechanical Supervisor

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated VRF Technician/Installer to join our mechanical contracting team. The ideal candidate will have experience installing, commissioning, and servicing Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) systems in commercial and/or residential settings. This role involves mechanical installation, system troubleshooting, and working closely with project managers and other trades to ensure high-quality HVAC system performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, and commission VRF systems (Daikin, Mitsubishi, LG, etc.)


• Interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical documentation related to HVAC installations.


• Lay out and assemble ductwork, piping, refrigerant lines, and electrical wiring.


• Test and verify system operation after installation or repair using tools such as gauges, meters, and diagnostic equipment.


• Troubleshoot VRF systems, identify faults, and perform repairs or recommend solutions.


• Ensure installations meet local and national codes and company standards.


• Coordinate with electricians, plumbers, and general contractors on job sites.


• Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.


• Follow company safety protocols and promote a safe job site environment.


• Understands the importance of schedule demands

Qualifications and Skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical HVAC training preferred.


• 5-7 years of hands-on experience with VRF/VRV system installation, startup and service.


• CFC Certification (EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification required)


• Familiarity with manufacturer-specific VRF systems (e.g., Daikin, LG, Mitsubishi, Samsung).


• Strong understanding of HVAC controls and refrigerant circuit theory.


• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and wiring diagrams.


• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Preferred Skills:

• Manufacturer training certifications (Daikin, Mitsubishi, LG, etc.)


• Experience with building management systems (BMS) integration.


• Strong communication and customer service skills.


• OSHA 10/30 certification is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.


• Comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights.


• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.

Working Conditions:

• Full-time position in-office
