Job Description - Walter Scott Client Investment Manager, Boston

Walter Scott - We are a long-only public equities manager, established in 1983. We manage ~$80bn, primarily for institutional clients but also for intermediaries, where we have institutional-like relationships. Most clients invest in our Global or International (world ex-US) investment strategies. Approximately half of our clients are based in the US. For more detail please visit: https://www.walterscott.com/ Our Client Service team - We currently have 14 senior client-facing colleagues in our Client Service team. Six of us are based in the US, and eight are based in Edinburgh, Scotland. To learn more about our team click here. Purpose - To support the business of Walter Scott by contributing to client service, business development, and consultant relations in the US. Key Responsibilities - 1. Client service and development - retain and develop existing client relationships by providing exceptional client service. 2. Business development (BD) - help to initiate new client relationships by effectively identifying, prioritising, and developing prospective clients. 3. Consultant relations - develop relationships with Research and Field Consultants to support Client Service and BD outcomes. Successful execution will require extensive travel - mainly within the US. Experience - at least 5 years of relevant industry experience. Academic/Professional Qualifications - (or equivalent) - FINRA SIE, Series 7, and Series 63 preferred, or will need to be obtained within a year of joining. Technical Skills, Knowledge, Systems Knowledge - (and associated skill level) - Proficient with industry-standard software inc. Microsoft Office, salesforce, etc. The Client Investment Manager role - Key responsibilities are detailed above. Walter Scott CIMs are: Wide-ranging. We appoint ‘champions' to relationships but also encourage an entrepreneurial approach. We do not silo by client type. You will engage with clients, consultants, and prospective clients across the US. Generalists. The CIM role has aspects of relationship management, consultant relations, business development, and investment/product management. Adaptable. You will interact in a variety of forums - in 1-1 meetings but also, potentially, presenting to larger audiences, participating in panel sessions, contributing to podcasts and videos etc. Collaborative. With an entrepreneurial approach, it is critical that our CIMs work cohesively with each other - and with partners - to deliver for our clients. The ideal candidate - Will be able to make a positive impact to the responsibilities and role. You will display: A detailed understanding of - and affinity for - Walter Scott's distinct culture and investment approach. Excellent communication skills, including ability to distill and relay complex information, compellingly. Evidence of strong relationships and networks. Strong motivation to self-start, manage and be accountable for new projects independently whilst also demonstrating a collaborative approach, and evidence of excelling in team-centric environments. A strong desire to contribute to the long-term success of our clients. Location - You will ideally be based in our Boston office (One Boston Place), but NYC (240 Greenwich) or other locations may be considered. You will initially be expected to spend significant time in Boston and Edinburgh.
