Job Description - Warehouse Manager


Join our team! We are looking for a Warehouse Manager to oversee two of our operating facilities!

 

The Warehouse Manager is responsible for the overall conditions and operation of their assigned warehouse(s); including ensuring effective daily operations, planning and preparation for critical business changes, coordination of facility maintenance, EHSS protocol, customer relations, compliance and administrative support. The Warehouse Manager is accountable for achieving overall operating results consistent with company performance goals. The Warehouse Manager directs communication and collaboration with customers to ensure results meet or exceed customer expectations.



KNOWLEDGE OF: Laws, regulations, and ordinances governing environmental protection, hazardous materials and wastes, and occupational safety associated with hazardous materials; storage, handling and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous materials, and emergency response procedures; needs, issues, and complexities affecting regulatory compliance. General chemical properties and associated hazards, safe handling procedures, and personal protective equipment.



EXPERIENCE: Extensive experience in coordinating and implementing hazardous materials compliance programs. Education and/or experience in compliance and training in the occupational health and safety programs associated with hazardous materials in an industrial warehouse environment. All duties that encompass hazardous materials and ACD responsibilities are only applicable to the Hanthorn Road operation.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Promotes and enforces the company culture, values, policies, and procedures.

  • Reviews and evaluates performance of all warehouse and office functions, addresses performance gaps (reporting to VP of Operations along with progress) and takes corrective action, as needed.

  • Assesses business conditions, evaluates emerging business needs, and takes action to address near-term opportunities to improve services, reduce costs, and/or generate incremental revenue to enhance operational results.

  • Oversees cost controls to achieve company financial goals.

  • Prepares capital improvement expenditure proposals to replace and/or upgrade facilities and equipment as needed. In addition, oversees management of facilities and equipment, identifies necessary remodeling or replacement of obsolete or non-productive assets, based on operational needs and economic justifications.

  • Establishes, implements, and ensures WMS and processes are effectively maintained. In addition, keeps current on the industry trends, and works to develop utilize new technologies and techniques as justified to maintain competitive edge.

  • Adopts and instills a continuous improvement management approach.

  • Creates high customer service expectations, monitors results to ensure expectations are being met or exceeded, and takes action to correct performance gaps.

  • Maintains safe environment in accordance with company policies and federal, state and local regulations.

  • Oversees record keeping, inspections, audits, and training.

  • Conducts performance appraisals and coaches direct reports to enhance individual and team results.

  • Assists in the development of individual and team performance goals aimed at achieving company objectives.

  • Develops and maintains a succession plan for assigned team.

  • Instills a work environment that fosters stability and takes necessary corrective actions to minimize turnover.

  • Reviews and approves resource requirements for completion of required tasks, monitors effective utilization of labor to minimize overall labor costs.

  • Ensures effective and efficient work through documented standard operating procedures/work instructions.

  • Maintains clear, open, two-way communication (spoken, heard, and understood), interacts with customers and internal functional leaders to resolve issues and improve performance.

  • Provides professional leadership by utilizing motivational principles.

  • Maximizes and balances Safety, Environmental, Quality, Security, Delivery, and Morale requirements of the business to minimize overall impacts. Oversees the incident reporting process for responsible worksite and ensures effective corrective actions to reduce future workplace incidents.

  • Assists in business development initiatives as requested, which includes customer visits, contract management, and negotiations.

  • Communicates critical need-to-know items immediately to Vice President of Operations (major injury, potential significant loss or gain of business, compliance violation, customer negative impact, etc.).

  • Develops, implements, and revises as necessary hazardous materials management programs such as Waste Plans, Spills Response Plans, Hazardous Waste Minimization Plans, Hazardous Waste Contingency Plans, Storm Water Plans, etc.

  • Oversees process for hazardous waste disposal.

  • Communicates the applicable requirements of legal mandates to staff.

  • Ensures effective employee training on safe management of hazardous materials and wastes, occupational safety regarding hazardous materials, emergency and non-emergency hazardous material spill responses, and documents training dates.

  • Preparation and submittal of annual SARA Title Reporting.

  • Responsible for ensuring facility compliance with ACD Responsible Distribution requirements. In addition, oversees the preparation for successful ACD Verification Audits which includes the ongoing development and continuous improvement of Responsible Distribution Management systems, objectives, and performance metrics. Promotes a culture of sustainability, security, and environmental stewardship initiatives consistent with Company and Responsible Distribution requirements. 

  • Other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Operations.


Required Experience and Education:



  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Operations Management, or related operations discipline.

  • 10 years of management/supervisory experience, in supply chain management, third-party logistics (3PL), or warehousing.

  • Working knowledge of P & L and balance sheet.

  • FDA/ODA/OSHA/EPA/NFPA experience and knowledge.

  • IFC/IBC/CFR/DOT experience and knowledge.

  • Budget, workforce, equipment, facilities, inventory, and change management experience.

  • Ability to assume strong leadership role in a fast paced and team-oriented environment with focus on the customer and achievement of safety, quality, and productivity goals.

  • Must possess excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, organize and coordinate activities effectively.

  • Ability to grow and develop others.

  • Must be proficient in Windows, Microsoft Office Suite products.

  • Must have strong analytical abilities coupled with superior team building and problem-solving skills.

  • High standard of integrity and reliability, able to build trust and loyalty with others.

  • Must practice confidentiality as required.
