This role plays a critical part in maintaining efficient, accurate, and safe warehouse functions, while supporting team productivity and performance. You will be responsible for overseeing a team of warehouse associates and ensuring smooth execution of shipping, receiving, inventory, and compliance processes.
Core Responsibilities
Team Leadership: Supervise and support warehouse staff through effective scheduling, training, coaching, and performance management. Foster a team-oriented environment that aligns with company values.
Shift Operations: Oversee and coordinate inbound and outbound shipments to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and proper product handling.
Inventory Oversight: Maintain inventory accuracy by conducting routine cycle counts, investigating discrepancies, and keeping records current in the system.
Safety Compliance: Promote a culture of safety by enforcing company policies, PPE usage, and equipment handling protocols. Address hazards and ensure OSHA standards are met.
Process Optimization: Continuously assess and improve warehouse workflows to enhance speed, accuracy, and efficiency on the floor.
Cross-Functional Communication: Collaborate with the Warehouse Manager, Inventory Control, and other departments to align operational priorities and solve issues as they arise.
Reporting & Documentation: Track and report key operational metrics, shift performance, and staffing updates. Maintain clear records of shipping/receiving and inventory movements.
Equipment Oversight: Monitor the condition and use of warehouse equipment. Ensure forklifts, pallet jacks, and other tools are safe and functional; report any maintenance needs promptly.
Cold Storage Standards: Ensure all products are stored and managed in compliance with temperature control requirements, preserving product quality and safety.
Qualifications & Experience
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Additional education in logistics, business, or supply chain preferred.
Experience: 3–5 years in warehouse operations, including 1–2 years in a supervisory role. Experience in cold storage or refrigerated environments is a strong plus.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong leadership and conflict resolution abilities
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, physically demanding setting
Familiarity with WMS systems and Microsoft Office
Forklift certification preferred
Work Conditions
Comfortable working in cold storage areas (as low as -20°F)
Physically able to lift/move items up to 50 lbs and stand/walk/bend throughout the shift
