Under direct supervision, performs a variety of duties including order picking, receiving, storing, issuing, shipping or delivering, maintaining supplies, equipment, tools and materials Responsible for ]general warehouse functions including loading, unloading, manual depalletizing, receiving, put-a-way, pulls and replenishments, and selection of product to support the service distribution, transmission, substation, generation, water and wastewater work groups in completing their work in an efficient and timely manner. Job requires a working knowledge of warehousing principles, policies, processes, practices, and procedures, sufficient to perform a range of varied, non-routine operative activities. Procedures are established and a number of specific guidelines are available, requiring limited judgment in selecting the most appropriate methods and procedures to apply to specific cases. Solves routine or recurring problems and identifies and suggests solutions to more complex problems. Completed work is evaluated for meeting customer requirements and conformity with established policies and procedures. Regular contact with internal and external customers, and contractors at all organizational levels is required May be required to work extended periods of overtime during power outage and restoration conditions.
- Properly fulfill orders by utilizing manual/electric pallet jacks, forklifts, and order pickers to transport and organize items, ensuring that the order is correct and complete.
- Safely and accurately select customer orders, build orders according to assigned load tickets, shrink wrap and label orders and move completed orders to proper staging location
- Follow warehouse management system directed selection pick path, accurately select product from inventory, label correctly, stage product on pallet and transport to staging area for shipment.
- Receive incoming inventory shipments and verify contents against purchase orders.
- Store and organize inventory in designated warehouse locations to optimize space and ease of access.
- Maintain accurate inventory records, conducting regular stock counts and ensuring accurate data entry into the inventory management system.
- Assist with the delivery of materials to job sites or other company locations as required, ensuring safe handling and timely arrival.
- Provide exceptional customer service when dealing with delivery and pick-up issues, as well as general inquiries about inventory.
- Inspect product being moved for shortages, damage, quality, or deterioration of packing and report to supervisor
- Monitor the condition and security of stored materials in an assigned facility and yard area.
- Respond to inquiries and requests by users to identify and order appropriate supplies, equipment, tools and/or materials.
- Load orders and processes and/or returns unused material to stock according to established procedures.
- Perform pre-shift equipment checks and safely operate powered industrial equipment within the warehouse.
- Perform sanitation duties to maintain a safe warehouse environment, including clearing travel aisles of debris, stacking empty pallets, and ensuring the neatness and cleanliness of assigned work areas while maintaining the accuracy of warehouse locations.
- Provide input into recommendations for improvements to operating plans, policies, and work methods.
- Comply with safety rules, regulations, and practices.
- Operate vehicles including non-CDL trucks and other related materials handling equipment as assigned.
- Use warehouse computers and RF equipment in a safe and professional manner to avoid damage to equipment.
- Perform other job-related work as assigned.
Education: High school diploma or equivalency
AND
Experience: One (1) year of experience operating a forklift in a warehouse setting.
A valid driver's license is required prior to employment and must be maintained during employment in this classification.
