Position Summary: 

The Warehouse Training Program Instructor will instruct, supervise, coach, record, and monitor the activities of trainees in one or more of the following areas – retail, janitorial, cafeteria, warehouse, packaging, or logistics. Monitors activities and schedules of trainees to achieve goals of the skills curriculum. Adhere to safety requirements. Participate in training and development as required.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide scheduling and supervision of skill areas.
  • Utilize and provide training in the use of equipment needed for the skill area.
  • Record and track the progress of trainees.
  • Oversee the supplies needed for the skills area, and order and inventory supplies.
  • Motivate trainees to achieve goals.
  • Make suggestions for improvements in training methods and service quality.
  • Maintain attendance records and approve timecards for trainees.
  • Problem-solve and coach trainees to problem-solve.
  • Monitor and verify the quality of work performed by trainees.
  • Set, maintain, and adjust training schedules as needed. 
  • Follow safety and security requirements.
  • Attend organizational and departmental meetings and in-service training as needed. 
  • Maintain confidentiality and abide by HIPAA requirements.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with trainees of all abilities, with team members, and with the public in a professional manner.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are required.
  • Ability to work under pressure, maintain accuracy, and meet deadlines.
  • Access to reliable transportation for regular participation in work.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is required.

Education and/or Experience 

  • Preferably, an Associate degree, or higher, in human services or related field or non-related field with professional training and/or experience in the skills area required.
  • Experience working with individuals with barriers to employment highly desired.
  • One year of related experience is required.  
  • Supervisory, coaching, or teaching experience preferred.

Other Skills and Abilities

Must be able to obtain the following within 6 months of date of hire:

  • First Aid/CPR Certification
  • Train the Trainer Certificate for Forklift Training
  • OSHA 10-Certification.

Language Skills 

Ability to read and interpret documents such as individual files, evaluation reports, job descriptions, personnel procedures, and safety rules. Ability to write professional reports that are grammatically correct and easily understood for referral sources or others outside of the Agency. Ability to clearly communicate, in verbal and written form, individual status, problems, or needs.

Mathematical Skills 

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

Reasoning Ability 

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form. Ability to assist individuals with appropriate social behavior to facilitate integration and inclusion. Ability to act as an advocate for individuals.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid Rhode Island driver's license in good standing. Job responsibilities may require the use of personal vehicle. Current registration and automobile insurance must be maintained.

The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may work near moving mechanical parts. The employee may work in outside weather conditions. The employee may be occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, cold, and heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
