Basic Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certification in water/wastewater systems is a plus
1–3 years of experience in water or wastewater treatment operations, preferably in an industrial setting
Working knowledge of treatment processes such as physical, chemical, and biological systems
Ability to interpret operating procedures, technical manuals, and system documentation
Valid driver’s license required
Wastewater Operator certification preferred (or ability to obtain within a defined timeframe)
Technical & Operational Skills
Hands-on experience operating and maintaining treatment equipment (e.g., pumps, valves, motors, filtration or chemical feed systems)
Basic understanding of instrumentation, process control, and plant monitoring systems (e.g., SCADA or equivalent)
Ability to perform routine sampling, testing, and data recording with accuracy
Strong troubleshooting skills to identify operational issues and implement corrective actions
Familiarity with preventive maintenance practices and minor mechanical/electrical repair work
Health, Safety & Compliance
Understanding of environmental regulations, safety procedures, and proper handling of chemicals
Commitment to maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal standards
Ability to follow safety protocols and use appropriate PPE in industrial environments
Soft Skills & Work Style
Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and consistency
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage workload in a fast-paced environment
Effective communication skills for coordination with team members and supervisors
Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team
Problem-solving mindset with the ability to remain calm during unexpected situations
Work Conditions & Physical Requirements
Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call assignments
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as walking, climbing, and working in confined or elevated spaces
Comfortable working in outdoor and industrial environments with exposure to noise, weather, and chemicals
