Basic Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certification in water/wastewater systems is a plus


• 1–3 years of experience in water or wastewater treatment operations, preferably in an industrial setting


• Working knowledge of treatment processes such as physical, chemical, and biological systems


• Ability to interpret operating procedures, technical manuals, and system documentation


• Valid driver’s license required


• Wastewater Operator certification preferred (or ability to obtain within a defined timeframe)

Technical & Operational Skills

• Hands-on experience operating and maintaining treatment equipment (e.g., pumps, valves, motors, filtration or chemical feed systems)


• Basic understanding of instrumentation, process control, and plant monitoring systems (e.g., SCADA or equivalent)


• Ability to perform routine sampling, testing, and data recording with accuracy


• Strong troubleshooting skills to identify operational issues and implement corrective actions


• Familiarity with preventive maintenance practices and minor mechanical/electrical repair work

• Understanding of environmental regulations, safety procedures, and proper handling of chemicals


• Commitment to maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal standards


• Ability to follow safety protocols and use appropriate PPE in industrial environments

Work Conditions & Physical Requirements

• Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call assignments


• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as walking, climbing, and working in confined or elevated spaces


• Comfortable working in outdoor and industrial environments with exposure to noise, weather, and chemicals
