Peoria’s Water Services Department has an excellent opportunity for a Utilities Operations Manager. This position plans, develops, implements, and directs utility operations at the City’s Water Reclamation Facilities, encompassing various aspects such as wastewater treatment, SCADA systems, control room operations, and reclaimed water systems. This position executes complex professional and administrative duties, directing, scheduling, and delegating to supervisors, operators, technicians, and administrative staff. Must be able to exercise initiative and independent judgement to ensure the adequacy and safety of the City’s water supply in compliance with county, state, and federal regulations. This is accomplished by devising and executing strategic plans; supervising upgrades, construction, and maintenance; and managing budgets. Additional responsibilities include contributing to customer service initiatives, enforcing safety rules, administering contracts, and responding to on-call requests and customer inquiries.

The ideal candidate for this position will have:
Robust knowledge of wastewater system and facility process control systems and techniques and methods
Previous managerial experience in a municipal or government setting.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Other Requirements
Education:
Bachelor's degree in any field or an equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
Experience:
A minimum of five years increasingly responsible experience in utility operations and maintenance, including a minimum of two years of supervisory experience. Requires broad knowledge of complex systems and procedures directly related to wastewater treatment plant operations.
Licenses and Certifications:
Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) Grade IV Operator's Certificate in Wastewater Treatment.
Valid AZ Driver’s License upon hire.
Preferred / Desirable Qualifications:
Experience in a municipal or government setting.
Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
